My Adventures with Green Lantern, the spin-off to My Adventures with Superman, is an upcoming DC animated series, which will follow Jessica Cruz as the Green Lantern instead of Hal Jordan. While the show is in the early stages of development, and very little is known about the upcoming series, the casting call for the lead character has begun.

As Knight Edge Media reports, casting calls for Jessica Cruz for My Adventures with Green Lantern have been started. This indicates that once all characters have been cast, the show will begin filming soon, and we might finally get more updates on the same.

Everything we know about the My Adventures with Green Lantern casting call

As Knight Edge Media reports, the description for Jessica Cruz in My Adventures with Green Lantern, provided by DC, states:

[ JESSICA CRUZ ] – 18 and older to play 14-15, Latina. PLEASE NOTE: This role will sing in the series, looking for talent who can sing.

The first few lines already set what kind of actor DC needs for My Adventures with Green Lantern, and the rest of the description also gives us the backstory to the teenage Jessica Cruz we are about to see. The description continues as,

Jessica had a normal childhood: she played softball, hung out with her best friends Kyle and Nikki, and stayed out of trouble. But Jess’ life collapsed when everyone around her hit puberty and got mean. Betrayed by friends and bullied out of softball, Jess withdrew. Better to be small and safe than to be yourself and get hurt. We meet Jess at the top of high school: a chronically anxious freshman who starts the year hoping to keep her head down and get by… but who ends up being chosen by a magic ring to be the cosmic champion of all life–the Green Lantern.

We can thus expect My Adventures with Green Lantern to explore the hardships of the teenage years, the bullying children face in school simply for being different, and how it all changes because of the ring. The description lastly gives us and all potential actors an idea of how the character will transition, as it says,

Despite her fear, anxiety, and her low opinion of herself, Jess will find that she does have the tenacity and courage to meet this challenge, to become the world’s greatest hero. KEYWORDS: Lovable, relatable, plucky, overthinker, ball of anxiety. SERIES REGULAR. VOICE OVER

It is interesting to see that Jessica Cruz is going to sing in the series, which means we will be getting quite some musical moments in between the adventures. My Adventures with Green Lantern's story is going to be different from DC's canon universe, and thus will have no connection to the live-action HBO show, Lantern.

As Knight Edge Media reports, Studio Mir is going to animate the show, while DC Studios produces. The casting directors for the show are Sarah Noonan and Agnes Kim. It is yet to be revealed when and where the show will be released.
