Dear X is one of the latest K-dramas that you cannot miss out on watching. The story isn't just about the rise and fall of Baek Ah-jin, but also about betrayal and what happens when you're obsessed with a person.
Right at the beginning, Ah-jin's personality is revealed. She's a woman who was once a child who only experienced violence, abuse, and trauma. And as she grew up, Ah-jin transformed into one of the most ruthless figures.
The story is incredibly thrilling, and what makes it even more binge-worthy is the cast and their contribution. My Demon star Kim Yoo-jung brings Baek Ah-jin to life, and since the K-drama thriller came out, fans cannot stop praising her acting abilities.
However, in a recent interview, Kim Yoo-jung shared that her friends joked about being scared when she looked at them. They saw her chilling transformation in Dear X. The actress said (via The Korea Times):
"I put a lot of work into this project, so it feels great to see people responding positively."
Yoo-jung continued:
"Friends joke that they get scared when I look at them now. It makes me laugh because it means I portrayed Ah-jin well."
As seen in the K-drama, Baek Ah-jin is unpredictable. You cannot easily tell what she's feeling at the moment, and that's what makes her stand out.
Dear X star Kim Yoo-jung talks about playing Ah-jin ahead of the series finale

Dear X finale is fast approaching, with the last two episodes arriving on coming Thursday (December 4) on TVING, Viki, and HBO Max. And while you wait to see what happens with Ah-jin next, here's what the actress has shared about playing the very complex character.
As mentioned above, Kim Yoo-jung's friends joked that they were frightened to look at her after watching Ah-jin. This explains why the actress was able to portray her well. And since Dear X follows the widely known webtoon, Yoo-jung wanted to make sure she didn’t overdo anything.
The Backstreet Rookie star said:
"The original fandom is huge, so I was nervous. I focused on capturing the essence of Ah-jin from the webtoon."
She continued:
"Ah-jin has a subtle aura that hides her true intentions. I tried not to overplay anything. By stripping away expressions and relying less on visible emotion, I hoped viewers would feel the same uncertainty I felt while reading the webtoon."
Yoo-jung also shared that she wanted to make every character feel tense when around Ah-jin. What she didn't expect was that many viewers would like Ah-jin. Though they don't justify her actions, fans and viewers do feel sorry for what happened to her. She said:
"I thought viewers would never root for her, but many people said they felt sorry for Ah-jin. That was surprising and a new experience for me."
Dear X kicks off by explaining the harsh life of Ah-jin. She wasn't just abused and mistreated by her parents, but also had to see her mother die and keep silent for survival. These experiences played the biggest role in transforming Ah-jin into the woman she is now.

A quick recap of Dear X before you watch the finale

In the story so far, Baek Ah-jin has once again risen to new heights. She married a businessman and CEO of Do Entertainment, Moon Do-hyeok, in exchange for whatever she desires in her life.
Since Do-hyeok is obsessed with Ah-jin, he makes sure to bring every project that she wants to work on. At the same time, he keeps tabs on her, even when she's inside the restroom.
On the other side, Jun-seo and Jae-ho are dealing with their own issues. Ah-jin's marriage has troubled them both, but Jun-seo is trying his best to move on. He underwent a kidney transplant for his greedy mother and then broke down to learn that his only support, his grandfather, is no more.
As for Jae-ho, he gets attacked by mysterious men, sent by Do-hyeok. Ah-jin's husband wants Jae-ho and Jun-seo both dead, as he doesn't like any other man contacting her. By the end of episode 10 of Dear X, Jung-hee tries to ruin Ah-jin's face with a knife.
However, her plans go horribly wrong when Ah-jin twists her arm, leading Jung-hee to injure herself. The knife leaves a deep cut on Jung-hee's face, while Ah-jin laughs with tears in her eyes. What's even more chilling is that Do-hyeok sees it all and has absolutely no reaction.
So, what happens next? Don't miss out on the Dear X finale on December 4, 2025.
