"Definitely possible," is something that he said in an interview with Variety, also revealing that there are already "various ideas" being discussed. That small spark has now lit up big expectations across the fanbase. He said,

"I believe they’re making progress there. I know that he and [showrunner] Lauren [LeFranc] have talked about various ideas. So, could another chapter be in the future? Definitely possible."

So, will we return to Gotham's underbelly for another round of power plays? Bloys isn't confirming anything yet, but the groundwork seems to be taking shape behind the scenes for The Penguin Season 2.

Casey Bloys hints at plans quietly taking form for The Penguin Season 2

After The Penguin stormed through award season with 24 Emmy nominations, talk of The Penguin Season 2 became louder. When Variety sat down with Casey Bloys following HBO's massive nomination haul, they asked the question that's been on everyone's mind: Is there more Oz Cobb coming?

Bloys replied;

"The number one thing right now that Matt [Reeves] is dealing with is getting the movie going. I believe they're making progress there...So, could another chapter be in the future? Definitely possible...But I know that Lauren is thinking of various ideas that might work alongside the movie. I think it's possible. I just don't know at this point."

The series was first introduced as a limited story, focusing on Oz's rise in Gotham after the events of The Batman. But with the kind of attention it's received, including one of the highest nomination counts this season, the hunger for more feels justified.

While no green light has been given just yet, these early talks confirm that the door is open, and a return could be on the table if it fits into Reeves' broader vision.

Colin Farrell’s return remains key as timelines shift to The Batman Part II

One thing is clear: The Penguin Season 2 can't happen without Colin Farrell. When asked about his involvement, Bloys didn't hesitate.

"Yes, he's the one that has to play that dark character and sit and sit in the makeup chair for several hours a day. So his buy in is essential."

That commitment, though, may depend on the direction taken by The Batman Part II, whose script was recently turned in and is now the top priority for the creative team.

As Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin move forward with production, reportedly eyeing January 2026 to begin filming, the plan appears to be giving the feature film its space before circling back to TV. That means any future Penguin chapters would have to align neatly with the events and tone of the upcoming movie.

Farrell's willingness to return, paired with showrunner LeFranc's active brainstorming, suggests that the key pieces are already in motion. It's just a matter of the right timing and finding the perfect story to continue forward.

While no official announcement has been made, the possibility of The Penguin Season 2 is gaining speed behind the scenes. Between early ideas from the creative team and Farrell wanting to return, the foundation for a second season is slowly being built.

For now, fans will have to wait, but the hope for Oz Cobb's next chapter is alive and well.
