Agustina has a complete breakdown in Delirium
The central plot of the show revolves around Agustina and her husband Aguilar trying to understand what suddenly went wrong with his wife. The story is told in a non-linear fashion and thus glimpses of Agustina’s past come in bits and pieces throughout the story.
It is important to understand that it is Agustina’s past that has shaped her into the woman she is today and her long repressed trauma and emotional scars finally come out, which leads to her having a breakdown. The series shows how she struggled with mental health issues in her childhood and her only hope was her brother Bichi.
However, when Bichi is revealed to be gay, he is made to leave the house, which makes things worse for Agustina. She then meets Midas, who becomes a pillar of support for her. Midas comes from a poorer family than Agustina’s and thus not only offers her a different perspective on life but also makes her happy.
Unfortunately, this also does not last as Agustina gets pregnant and her family forces her to abort the child and leave Midas. This leads to Agustina leaving her home and also leaving Midas. In the present day, Agustina is shown to be married to Aguilar, a professor of literature. Midas on the other hand is shown to be working in the mafia.
