Netflix's latest entry in the Dept. Q has made quite a ripple in the OTT community, as fans have responded quite positively to the series. Unlike most platforms which would have okayed a second season, with Netflix, there is always space for doubt till the streaming giant gives a green signal for the next season.
While fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of Dept. Q Season 2, it seems like the stars of the show, including the lead protagonist, Matthew Goode, are also completely in favor of a second season. However, the reason behind this is rather sweet, as revealed by Goode during an interview with Deadline.

Matthew Goode reveals why the stars of Dept. Q are awaiting the renewal of the show for season 2
In an interview with Deadline, Matthew Goode revealed that the entire cast had a blast when they were shooting the show, and they got quite close. That added to the incredibly interesting storyline of the show, one of the main reasons why the entire cast is eagerly looking forward to Netflix's green signal for a second season of the show. He said:
"I’d wanted to work with Shirley Henderson—‘Shenderson’—for years. And Kelly Mcdonald, and then this fairly relatively new actress, Leah Byrne, who is a revelation in this show. It’s very difficult to be talking about some of the things that she has to talk about and make them hilarious. It’s quite a staggering… Well, it’s writing and talent, where they meet, I suppose. I love them all. That’s why we’re desperate to do a second season."
The show follows the story of a formerly successful, top-rated detective as he struggles with his internal battles and guilt after his partner is left paralysed after a severe attack. The show explores his journey as he tries to resolve his internal issues and return to work, where he is assigned a cold case that consumes his entire life.
So far, the popular crime thriller drama only has one season comprising nine episodes. The show also features a stellar cast, including the likes of Matthew Goode, Shirley Henderson, Chloe Pirrie, Kelly Macdonald, and many others, making it a gripping watch.
Dept. Q is available to stream on Netflix.
