NBC's Destination X featured one of reality TV's most genuine connections between Shayne Cureton and Ally Bross. The Indianapolis model and Austin-based travel influencer sparked romance during the European mystery bus competition hosted by Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Fans were captivated by the Destination X contestants' chemistry as they forecasted locations and solved puzzles to escape elimination. During filming, the two formed a connection that grew from playful flirting to greater emotional bonds. During the presentation, both admitted transitioning from "player mode" to seeking something genuine.

As Destination X viewers saw their passion blossom against the backdrop of fierce rivalry, their relationship emerged as a key plot point. But life after the program was more difficult than their on-screen chemistry indicated. The pair made an effort to keep up their friendship in real life once shooting was finished. After around two months of dating, they decided to end their love relationship.

They were unable to overcome the challenges posed by distance and hard occupations. Even though their love relationship is over, they are still close friends and stay in touch frequently. The difficulties of integrating relationships from reality TV into daily life are brought to light by their narrative.

Shayne and Ally's connection began early in the Destination X competition. Shayne and Ally hit it off quickly on Destination X; their flirtatious banter, gracing almost every other episode, quickly blossomed into genuine feelings as they got to know each other over the show's European excursion. Initially, both were focused on winning, but by midseason, their attention had plainly switched to each other.

Their friendship got stronger as a result of late-night conversations and collaboration amid mystery bus difficulties. By the end of filming Destination X, they were ready to take things seriously outside of the show. They dated more or less seriously for about two months, and they tried their very hardest to make it work despite their extremely different lifestyles.

It was challenging to stay in touch due to Ally's demanding schedule as a full-time influencer who travels frequently. Her schedule didn't exactly match with Shayne's, which was based in Indianapolis. They finally decided to break up and end their long-distance relationship since it was way more challenging than they had imagined.

Ally and Shayne have remained close friends, though, so the narrative doesn't end there. In a July 2025 interview, Ally revealed that they still want to visit each other when they can and communicate virtually every other day. They still clearly care for one another, even though their social media posts now lean more towards friendship than romance.

The friendship endured even though the relationship did not. Though in a different manner than previously, they have been able to maintain their support and connection.

Where do they stand now?

Ally, a travel influencer based in Austin, continues to live her best life by posting material on social media about her trips, lifestyle moments, and humanitarian activities. Follow her on Instagram at @allybross for updates on her collaborations and efforts. She is also now dating Mack Fitzgerald, another contestant on the show, as she revealed in a recent Instagram post.

Shayne is doing well in Indianapolis, where he focuses on modeling and developing his internet identity. He talks about Destination X throwbacks and provides career updates to his followers.

Their relationship may be over, but they are both appreciative of the show and the connections they made. They maintain good friendships with the other cast members and continue supporting one another digitally.

Their story shows that reality TV relationships do not necessarily end badly; in other situations, they simply develop into lifelong companionship.

Destination X airs Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, with new episodes available the next day on Peacock.
