Devil in Disguise hasn’t premiered on Peacock yet, but the streaming platform is already planning to extend the series beyond its debut season. According to Variety, a second season is already in the works.

While the first chapter chronicles the crimes of John Wayne Gacy, Peacock is planning to base the second installment around Richard Ramirez, a notorious serial killer who committed at least 15 murders in California in the 1980s.

Also known as the Night Stalker, Ramirez has been the subject of several documentaries in the last few years, and Devil in Disguise Season 2 will be a fictional retelling of his story. Showrunner Patrick Macmanus, who has created the John Wayne Gacy season, would return to work on the second chapter.

Patrick Macmanus is currently in talks with Peacock to create Devil in Disguise Season 2. He will also serve as the executive producer on the second installment. The project is still in the early stages of development, so its production and cast details have not been finalized yet.

The upcoming season will revolve around Richard Ramirez, also known as the Night Stalker. He has previously been the subject of the Netflix docuseries Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer. Last year, Peacock also came up with a documentary based on the killer, titled Richard Ramirez: The Night Stalker Tapes.

Counted among America’s most infamous serial killers, Ramirez wreaked havoc in Los Angeles and San Francisco between April 1984 and August 1985. His crimes included murders, assaults, and burglaries, which were marked by extreme violence and cruelty.

His violent tendencies arose out of his traumatic childhood. He was abused by his father and was influenced by a cousin who glorified violence. Over the years, Ramirez developed a fixation with death, Satanism, and crime, eventually becoming a serial killer who hunted people at night.

In 1989, a jury found Ramirez guilty of 43 felonies, including 13 murders. The judge imposed 19 death sentences on him. Ramirez remained on death row at San Quentin State Prison until his death from B-cell lymphoma in 2013.

Meanwhile, the first season of Devil in Disguise is set to premiere on Peacock on October 16, 2025. The eight-episode show focuses on John Wayne Gacy, who killed around 33 people, mostly young men and boys, in Illinois in the 1970s.

The show stars Michael Chernus in the lead. The rest of the cast includes Michael Angarano, James Badge Dale, Greg Bryk, Marin Ireland, Gabriel Luna, and Chris Sullivan. The official synopsis of the first season reads:

“[The show] peels back the twisted layers of Gacy’s life while weaving in heartrending stories of his victims; exploring the grief, guilt, and trauma of their families and friends; and exposing the systemic failures, missed opportunities, and societal prejudices that fueled his reign of terror.”
