Bloodthirsty vigilante Dexter Morgan makes a comeback in the spin-off prequel series Dexter: Original Sin.

The blood spatter analyst to the Miami Metro Police Department by day and a ruthless killer vigilante by night gets his spin-off series, which will recount his early years in 1990s Miami.

While the blood-spattering tales of Dexter's many victims have continued to shock fans for many decades, the new prequel show will add depth to his character, recounting his early years and eventual transformation from a high school student to an avenging killer.

Michael C. Hall, who played Dexter Morgan in the original show, will also reprise his role as the narrator and Dexter's inner voice in Dexter: Original Sin Season 1.

The show will focus on his formative years, during which he operates on a strict moral code taught by Harry, his adoptive father, to kill the bad guys who escaped justice.

Fans are excited about the many new spin-offs in order. In addition to this prequel, Dexter: Resurrection and Dexter: New Blood are also in the works as Dexter's sequels.

What is the release date and time of Dexter: Original Sin Season 1 Episode 1?

The prequel series will debut on Paramount+ with Showtime on December 13, 2024. It will also be available on television for US viewers on December 15, 2024, at 10 p.m.

The new spin-off will have 10 episodes in total, released weekly every Friday until February 2025.

According to IMDb, the official logline for Dexter: Original Sin Season 1 Episode 1 reads as follows,

''Young Dexter Morgan struggles to keep his urges in check while navigating life with his father, Harry, and sister, high-school senior Deb. After Harry has a health scare, Dexter realizes it may finally be time to fulfill his destiny.''

The central plot of this spin-off series will be Dexter's transformative journey from an ordinary student to a killer with extreme serial killing urges. He learns to embrace his dark side and control his dark urges with his adoptive father, Harry.

Michael C. Hall has expressed his excitement for the prequel and another sequel in works titled Dexter: New Blood,

"The scripts they've executed are fantastic. I can't wait, like as a fan, to watch it, and as an actor, to spend time seeing real footage of things that I've sort of tried to imagine for myself..."

Who is in the cast of Dexter: Original Sin Season 1?

Michael C. Hall passes the torch to Patrick Gibson, who will play a young Dexter Morgan who is just on the verge of experiencing his dark serial killer self.

Gibson has appeared in projects like The OA, The Tudors, The Passing Bells, and The White Princess.

Hall will also reprise his role from the original show as Dexter's narrator/inner voice in the series.
