The first episode of Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 is enough to depict that Dexter’s son, Harrison, is not quite different than his father. After the events of Dexter: Newblood where in which Harrison shoots his own father for his past actions, Dexter is back from the coma.

Though it almost made us fans worried about whether Dexter is truly dead or not, seeing him survive the gunshot truly makes us happy. On the other hand, after shooting his father and leaving him to die, Harrison tries to have a better life. He is on the path to make amends and work towards success; however, his path is soon hindered by the dark path that his father followed.

Harrison follows his father’s footsteps in Dexter: Resurrection, Season 1, Episode 1

As we know, Dexter’s childhood has not been an easy one. He witnessed the death of his mother and sat on the blood for days before he was found by his adoptive father, Harry Morgan. Harry understood Dexter like no one else. He knew Dexter’s desires, for which he taught Dexter a code. This code came with a list of rules that Dexter follows while he chooses his victims.

He was the Bay Harbour Butcher, killing multiple people who were killers themselves and had evaded the law. Now, this dark path that Dexter followed became his son’s path as well, as we see in Dexter: Resurrection. In the very first episode, Harrison kills a man.

While working at the hotel, he comes across a woman who is inebriated. He sees that a man is trying to take advantage of the woman’s drunken stupor. He soon realises that this whole situation is orchestrated by the man, and he roofied her.

To prevent her from getting attacked by this man, Harrison kills the man. He even uses the tips that his father taught him. However, as a novice, he made multiple mistakes, which revealed the whole situation. The body parts that he had cut and disposed of were found by the sanitation workers of the hotel. The workers informed the police, who quickly found out about the remaining parts of the body.

Though the police are yet to connect the murder with Harrison, he is definitely not in a good situation. On the other hand, Dexter comes to find out about his son’s activities. As a person with a dark side, he is well aware of how the situation turned out.

The man that Harrison chose to kill was not an innocent man in any way. He was a sexual predator. The woman would not have been his first victim. This mirrors Dexter’s modus operandi. It could be understood that Harrison was already on the path of following the dark urges that his father also had.

The guilt of shooting his father was also a crucial triggering aspect in his life. He felt a distinct guilt that was eating at him. This can be seen in the first episode of Dexter: Resurrection. Though Harrison wanted to move on in his life, his past actions prevented him from taking a step forward.

There is a chance that Harrison could get caught for the murder. However, as Dexter has already involved himself, it might not be the eventual outcome. He is aware of his son’s actions. So would definitely try to protect him from the dangers of getting caught. Harrison’s journey of following his father’s steps already begins in the very first episode of Dexter: Resurrection; however, he still has much to learn from his father.
