Dexter: Resurrection is getting wilder with every episode, and Episode 4 really upped the game. Not only did Dexter get back to doing what he does best, the entire atmosphere shifted when he stepped into the creepiest party of the season.

It was an underground serial killer soirée hosted by Leon Prater (played by Peter Dinklage). It was luxurious, macabre, and weirdly mesmerizing.

Lowell was on the hunt for his next victim. And just before he could make his move, Dexter swooped in, and took Lowell out, after revealing his real identity.

Meanwhile, things weren’t exactly calm on the Harrison front either. Batista arrived in New York, suspicious as ever, and confronted both Harrison and Elsa.

Dexter: Resurrection — Michael C. Hall and Ritter on Episode 4's serial killer party and the spark between their characters

There was one unexpected spark that stood out in this episode. Mia is a mysterious new character who instantly vibes with Dexter. And from the looks of it, she isn’t just another side character. The connection between them feels real, and the actors themselves are confirming there is way more brewing beneath the surface.

Michael C. Hall doesn’t hold back when describing the mess Dexter walks into in Episode 4. Speaking about the lavish party in the episode, he tells TVLine:

“It’s unbelievable. As an actor, I felt like, ‘What just happened? Did Dexter get transported into some twisted serial killer superhero movie?’ But I think that’s how he’s feeling too… We’ve set the show in an environment where that kind of thing feels almost plausible. That someone [like Prater] with that sort of fetishistic, crazy mindset and unlimited funds might try to pull something like that off.”

That strange setup in Dexter: Resurrection gave us some major character moments. Especially when Mia stepped into frame. There is something magnetic about her. She is fierce, curious, and just unpredictable enough to keep Dexter on his toes, and it sounds like Ritter agrees.

She shares with TVLine:

"She’s very intrigued by him. She’s incredulous of all of the serial killers and she wants to know more. I think she finds him attractive and that’s the first way in. And Dexter thinks that she has a code, [so] they kind of hit it off.”

Dexter and Mia’s connection is especially fascinating because underneath all the glances, there seems to be a mutual understanding.

Mia isn’t just drawn to Dexter because he is mysterious; she senses something more calculated in him. And Dexter, for the first time in a long while, sees someone who might live by a similar code in Dexter: Resurrection.

Unlike most people Dexter meets, Mia doesn’t immediately feel like a target. She feels like a mirror. It is not romance in the traditional sense but a meeting of two minds that might have danced with death too many times to be “normal” anymore.

If this is the start of a new dynamic duo or a fatal misunderstanding in Dexter: Resurrection only time will tell. The potential, though, is electric.
