Alexi Hawley finally listened to all fan demands and reunited Chenford in The Rookie Season 8 premiere. After the heartbreaking cliffhanger from the Season 7 finale, where Lucy slept while Tim asked her to move in with him, he took it as a sign and changed his plans. It was only after Angela nudged Tim in the right direction that he was ready to have 'the talk' with Lucy. However, between Lucy and Tim's contrasting schedules and the high-stakes International mission, the couple could not find the right moment.

Just when it seemed that all hope was lost, Angela emerged as the true Chenford shipper and pushed Lucy and Tim in the right direction. While the LAPD was at a stakeout at Lukas Wegnar's port, Angela tricked Lucy into joining the team. Thanks to Celina's help, Angela lured Lucy to Tim's trailer. After Chenford realized that Angela and Celina had tricked them, they had no choice but to clear their differences in The Rookie Season 8 premiere.

Lucy finally revealed she had been waiting for Tim to talk to her and that is when the latter asked her to move in with him. While the couple is happily together for now, Tim and Lucy will have to face new obstacles and challenges in The Rookie Season 8. The couple spent much of the past season contemplating their contrasting ranks, which made the possibility of a relationship seem impossible. However, after Lucy cleared the Sergeant's exam and was promoted in Season 7, the couple overcame this major obstacle.

Now that Chenford has officially moved in and will be living under the same roof, they will navigate more obstacles, which will likely make their relationship stronger.

In an interview with Deadline, Hawley teased Lucy and Tim's futures in The Rookie Season 8:

''We’re not done with obstacles in the sense that we still need drama, but I think a lot of their drama is focused more in navigating workplace, home life and career things that they’re both going through as opposed to a romantic obstacle, if that makes sense.''
