Dexter: Resurrection might be broaching a plot point from the original Dexter show and even Dexter: New Blood. The said plot point is that of Dexter having a serial killer partner. While Dexter has had 4 characters as his accomplices, as of now, only two have been alive. One accomplice, Miguel Prado (Jimmy Smits), broke bad, and Dexter had to kill him, while Zach Hamilton (Sam Underwood) in season 8 fell prey to the Brain Surgeon.
However, two of Dexter's apprentices did survive: Julia Stiles' Lumen Pierce in Dexter Season 5 and Harry Morgan, who briefly assisted him in Dexter: New Blood. Of those, Lumen even has a brief romance with Dexter, but they amicably end their relationship in the finale after they both manage to kill her abusers.
However, Dexter: Resurrection might be introducing a new character who might be similar to Lumen, Krysten Ritter's Mia Lapierre/Lady Vengeance. We meet Mia in the fourth episode of Resurrection, "Call Me Red."
Dexter: Resurrection's Mia/Lady Vengeance explained:
In the fourth episode of Dexter: Resurrection, Dexter impersonates Ronald Schmidt/Red/Dark Passenger to meet other serial killers. He had killed Ronald in the previous episode, and therefore, he is infiltrating the group to kill them, but he is intrigued by one of these killers because she might be like him after all. The killer in question is none other than Lady Vengeance.
As mentioned before, we meet Krysten Ritter's Mia Lapierre in the fourth Dexter: Resurrection episode as a well-known sommelier, i.e., a wine professional. Right upon meeting, she takes a bit of liking to Dexter, which she never felt for the other two serial killers of Leon Prater's group. She has a particular dislike for Neil Patrick Harris' Lowell/The Tattoo Collector.
Dexter, on the other hand, is surprised to learn from Leon that Mia kills only sexual predators. This information has Dexter wondering if she follows a code like him. This is not confirmed, but if it is confirmed that Mia does follow a code, Dexter might've found an ally, which is important because, before being killed, Lowell hints that Dexter is breaking Prater's rules.
It also must be noted that the fourth episode hints at a romance between the two. Dexter finds Mia intriguing because she attacks sex offenders, while she is also attracted to him because she feels a connection with him. Here's what actress Krysten Ritter told TVLine's Staff Editor Nick Caruso about the chemistry her character and Dexter share in the fourth episode:
“She’s very intrigued by him. She’s incredulous of all of the serial killers and she wants to know more. I think she finds him attractive and that’s the first way in. And Dexter thinks that she has a code, [so] they kind of hit it off.”
In the last act of the episode, Mia even tries to hit on Dexter, only for him to realize that he has to meet Lowell, where the Bay Harbor Butcher realizes that The Tattoo Collector is about to strike again.
Dexter: Resurrection Episode 5, "Murder Horny", is set to be released on Friday, August 1, 2025.
