Finn Jones is the latest actor teasing a Marvel Netflix reunion in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Apart from him, Krysten Ritter, the actress who played Jessica Jones in the Netflix series titled the same, also stoked the flame of a return with season 2 of Born Again when she posted an image of Charlie Cox reading Retreat, her book, on her Instagram story.

Theories of a Defenders reunion have been floating across in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 the internet ever since the cliffhanger season 1 finale. Wilson Fisk/Kingpin emerged victorious as he used his mayoral powers to declare martial law on the city and ban masked vigilantes. However, this ban did not deter Matt from forming an army.

While fans expected Matt's fellow superheroes, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage, to appear on screen in the Born Again Season 1 finale as a part of Matt's army, what we got was a bunch of characters we saw in the previous eight episodes. But that did not stop people from hoping for the rest of The Defenders to appear in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

The frequent posts by actors only made fans theorize more about a return. Finn Jones is one of the recent actors from the Netflix Marvel Universe to post a photo that many believed hinted at a return. However, since the photo was taken in Holland, it seems that this might just be a chance meeting with a fellow actor he previously worked with, rather than hinting at a Marvel return.

What is Finn Jones' latest post that prompted a rumor of a return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?

On May 9, 2025, actor Finn Jones posted an image with fellow Iron Fist actress Jessica Henwick, who played Colleen Wing. The post had a caption reading "Reunion". On the surface, it may look like Jones is confirming a return to the MCU through Born Again Season 2. But that's not the case because the geo-tagging on the post reveals that the actors clicked the photo in Holland, Netherlands, and Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is filming in New York.

But that doesn't mean that Jones can't be a part of the series. It should be noted that Iron Fist Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger and set up a future season before being cancelled in 2018. While the news of Iron Fist's cancellation was met with indifference, the cancellation of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher upset the fans.

However, Charlie Cox's return renewed fans' calls to retain Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and even Finn Jones. Jones recently attended the LaConve anime convention in Mexico. There, the actor, in an interview with IGN, asked for another chance as Danny Rand/Iron Fist:

“I’m very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it. My response to that is like, give me a f***ing chance, man. I’m here and I’m ready. I want to prove people wrong. So I would love to see that happen.”

However, he is not the only one who expressed hope for a return from the Netflix MCU. Dario Scardapane, the showrunner for the first season and Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, also tried his best not to confirm the role of Defenders.

What did Dario Scardapane say? What does his comment mean for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?

Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly that was published on April 18, 2025. In that interview, Scardapane was asked this question:

"With this final scene that we get with Matt and everybody in Josie's, people have been gravitating toward the line that he says about needing to assemble an army to take down Fisk. The first thing that pops into our heads is Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Danny Rand. Are those characters in your head as you map out season 2 and the future of Daredevil?"

Scardapane's response to this question:

"Without giving too much away...when you're working in what I would call the Hell's Kitchen corner of the MCU, those iconic characters are always in your mind. The thing is that — and this is kind of hard, I'm trying to thread a needle here — you want to bring in people and relationships and past figures in Matt's life because they help the story, particularly in terms of a story where Fisk has taken over the city. And there is a resistance and a rebellion, so to speak, rising. So there's going to be people, vigilantes, superheroes that are involved in that. There has to be because this is happening to their city. That said, you also want to create a completely organic story for that. So who comes in and why has to be beyond anything earned. So the easiest answer to your question is, yes, those characters that you just listed off are absolutely in my head and everybody's head as we're working. How that manifests itself is both really tricky writing-wise and a pretty closely guarded secret at this point. So I'm being intentionally cagey, but I'm also saying, 'Hell yeah!' in terms of it's something we're thinking about.""

If these comments are to be believed, the role of the Defenders in Born Again Season 2 remains uncertain and unconfirmed. But, considering Fisk's resources, it won't be surprising if Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist join Matt's army to bring down Mayor Kingpin's rule.
