Did you know Ahsoka star Rory McCann was also in another Star Wars show? Details revealed

Rory McCann’s casting as Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka season 2 was confirmed at Star Wars Celebration 2025. Prior to this, the cast of Ahsoka lost an important member: Ray Stevenson, who played Baylan Skoll.

The second season of the series is expected to be released in 2026. Rory McCann’s addition comes at a crucial time in the show and has naturally drawn attention. What made this move even more interesting is that this is not the first time Lucasfilm has brought him into a Star Wars project.

Rory had previously played Sandor Clegane, “the Hound,” in Game of Thrones. His acting style is marked by a blend of physical intensity and controlled emotion. His experience with the music industry shaped his grounded presence on screen.

His Star Wars involvement became clear through Joplin Sibtain on the Star Wars Sessions podcast. In this podcast, Sibtain revealed how Rory McCann was cast as Brasso in Andor Season 1.

Brasso is portrayed as one of Cassian Andor’s closest allies on Ferrix, and his role supports major character and community-driven moments in the first season. It was revealed that a serious injury caused him to step away.

Rory McCann had a bad limp, received a scan, and was advised surgery, failing which he would have risked his physical mobility. With the production already in progress, the crisis had to be managed.

Sibtain was then cast as Brasso. At this point in the production process, digital replacement was conducted, and they reshot the material. It involved extensive work:

“They did a lot with the Hound’s face… they had to superimpose my face on him.”

This is why in the released version of Andor, we do not see McCann, but portions of his physical performance remain embedded in the early production work of Season 1.

Rory McCann has been recast to join as Baylan Skoll in Season 2. Baylan Skoll is a former Jedi Knight who survived Order 66 and later became a mercenary Force user. He appears in Ahsoka as one of the key antagonists.

In Ahsoka Season 1, Rosario Dawson stars as Ahsoka Tano, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo joined the cast as Sabine Wren. Mary Elizabeth was seen as Hera Syndulla, Ray Stevenson played Baylan Skoll, and Ivanna Sakhno stepped into the shoes of Shin Hati.

Diana Lee Inosanto starred as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant took the off-camera department as Huyang (voice), Hayden Christensen played Anakin Skywalker, and Lars Mikkelsen was seen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. Eman Esfandi, Genevieve O’Reilly, and Temuera Morrison (voice cameo) were also part of the stellar cast.
