Blood of My Blood, the Outlander prequel series, whose title immediately reminds fans of Jamie's wedding vows, is set to premiere on Starz on 8th August 2025. The show is going to tell the stories of Jamie and Claire's parents.
Set in the Scottish highlands, Jamie's mother, Ellen MacKenzie, will be played by Harriet Slater, and his father, Brian Fraser, will be played by Jamie Roy. Since the protagonists of Outlander are from two different times, Claire's parents' story will be set in Britain during the time of World War I. Julia Moriston, Claire's mother, will be played by Hermione Corfield, and her father, Henry Beauchamp, will be played by Jeremy Irvine.

Blood of My Blood will come back for a second season
As The Hollywood Reporter reports, Blood of My Blood has been renewed for season two, and production for the same has started this Monday. The renewal comes several weeks before the season one premiere. If the show is anything like its predecessor, it is going to fare well among fans. While not confirmed, the fact that the show has already been renewed for season two indicates that it is probably going to do justice to Outlander and its fans.
Outlander has been a hit period drama since it was first released in 2014. It follows Claire Randall, a nurse, who travels through time by accident when she visits Inverness in Scotland with her husband Frank Randall. From 1945, the heroine is transported to 1743, two hundred years in the past. What follows is a series of adventures, near encounters with death, the Jacobite uprising, and a love story that transcends time.
It is in the 18th century that Claire meets Jamie Fraser, a Jacobite rebel and the laird of Lallybroch. They eventually get married, fight wars and enemies together, and have a daughter. Claire is forced to return to the 20th century when she is pregnant and the rebels have almost lost the Battle of Culloden, but she returns two decades later, reuniting with Jamie.
Most Outlander fans have wondered what Jaimie or Claire's parents might have been like, since we do not know much about them. Blood of My Blood, like any other sequel, will help us give us a different perspective on Outlander by showing us the story of Jamie and Claire's parents.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Matthew B. Roberts talked about the season two renewal in a statement, saying,
“The passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into Outlander: Blood of my Blood has been extraordinary, and we’re thrilled to continue these epic love stories in season two,''
“Just as audiences fell in love with Jamie and Claire, we hope viewers will be enamored by these new couples when they meet them this summer.”
Other than the protagonists, the show also stars Tony Curran as Lord Lovat, Ellen's father, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Sadhbh Malin as Jocasta MacKenzie , and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan. The show has been executive produced by Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg.
Outlander is streaming on STARZ and Netflix. Blood of My Blood will be released on STARZ on 8th August 2025.
