Hit CBS procedural NCIS has quite the reputation of featuring guest stars in its long run of 400+ episodes (in the main show) and Scottie Thompson is a well-known name among fans. She made her NCIS debut in the third season playing the fan-favorite character Dr. Jeanne Benoit and later in the Los Angeles spin-off, made a guest appearance in a different role.

Her recurring character also eventually entered into a complicated relationship with Special Agent Tony Dinozzo (portrayed by Michael Weatherly) which due to obvious reasons did not get a fitting conclusion. Jeanne Benoit has been portrayed as an energetic and amicable doctor whose father's involvement in global arms dealing later landed her in trouble. Keep reading to find out more about Scottie Thompson's NCIS character.

What roles did Scottie Thompson play in the NCIS franchise? Details revealed

Scottie Thompson graced the set of NCIS back in 2006 for the first time when Season 3 saw her introduction as Dr. Jeanne Benoit. Though her character evolved in a promising way, the major setback in her story was Benoit's father La Grenouille (a French arms smuggler).

Michael Weatherly's Tony Dinozzo gets involved in a romantic development with Benoit (while aiming to extract intel on her father) and what kicked off pretty well, ended in disappointment and distrust due to obvious reasons. Benoit's father's connections to the underworld eventually landed her in trouble and the arc reached its natural conclusion. However, Scottie Thompson appeared once again in NCIS Season 13 as Benoit, but by that time she was already married to someone else.

So, her much-anticipated reunion with Tony did not materialize into the usual re-ignition of an old flame. However, this was not the only time when Thompson returned to the NCIS universe.

She made another appearance in NCIS: Los Angeles where she was cast in a different role thereby breaking a major convention of such long-running procedurals. Rather, Scottie Thompson was featured as a guest star in the CBS spin-off Special Agent Sarah Raines in Season 11.

She was then employed by the Defense Intelligence department and was actively involved in a crucial investigation concerning UFOs. Unfortunately, it later came to light that Agent Sarah was involved in a secret aircraft trade with the Chinese and also gets arrested on grounds of treason - thanks to her higher-ups' prompt intervention.

Scottie Thompson perfectly portrayed complementary pairs with her two characters, which are not even remotely connected or similar. While shifting gears with a fan-favorite face like Thompson initially garnered quite some negative reviews from some of the viewers, it did open a creative door for the NCIS showrunners to explore various characters of the universe in similar ways.

Following Thompson's re-introduction as Agent Sarah Raines, it became a trend for stars to recur in the long-running franchise with different faces. Scottie Thompson was thus a valuable addition to the NCIS universe and though she is also known from other hits like Star Trek, this CBS drama role got her the much-deserved recognition in her acting career.
