Noah Schnapp might have given Stranger Things fans a little more than they bargained for during his latest Hot Ones appearance, and the internet noticed before the cleanup crew swooped in. The actor showed up on Hot Ones Versus with Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, and Caleb McLaughlin, ready to speed run the entire series lore, but somewhere between the wings and the chaos he let slip two details that were not supposed to leave the Upside Down yet.

The first revelation came out when Schnapp tried to cram four seasons of Stranger Things plot into a half minute recap. In his rush, he casually mentioned that Vecna is actually being operated by the Mind Flayer, wording it as Vecna being “run” by the creature. Hardcore fans raised their eyebrows instantly because that connection has never been confirmed onscreen.

Then came the second bomb. While talking about Season 2, Schnapp said that Will actually created the tunnels beneath Hawkins after being kidnapped and possessed back in Season 1. Again, the series has never explicitly stated this, so fans immediately paused, rewound, and went bonkers.

The Hot Ones team clearly realized they had a situation on their hands because the episode was edited almost as fast as the clips started spreading. But it was too late. Viewers had already snagged the uncut footage, and within hours it was everywhere from Reddit threads to social feeds. The fandom did what the fandom always does: dissected every frame like it held the secrets of the universe.

Stranger Things enters its final stretch with season five, and Netflix is treating the last chapter like a full scale event. Matt and Ross Duffer return to steer the show, supported by longtime producers Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen, while the cast lineup features every familiar face you’d expect in a goodbye tour. Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Brett Gelman, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, Linda Hamilton, and Jamie Campbell Bower all anchor the story, joined by some new faces.

The story picks up in the fall of 1987. Hawkins is still reeling from the damage left behind last season, the rifts have torn open the town, and Vecna is still out there. The group’s goal is simple on paper and impossible in practice: find him and put an end to the nightmare.

Behind the scenes, the Duffers adjusted their usual workflow after the pandemic disrupted earlier production cycles. They outlined the entire season before cameras rolled and later reworked major pieces, including the ending, after hearing audience reactions to season four.

The fifth season of Stranger Things is now streaming, with the second volume all set to drop on Christmas.
