DMV Season 1 is a workplace comedy, as it focuses on those workers who live on minimum wage and have to deal with unruly customers on a daily basis. The show is therefore realistic and focuses on the plight of employees who are in the customer business.

Further, the series will have a unique directorial technique, as it will be a single-camera comedy. The show will premiere on CBS on October 13, 2025, and feature Tim Meadows, Harriett Dyer, and others. According to the Los Angeles Times, it will air weekly from 8:30 to 9 PM PT and will also be available for streaming on Paramount+.

While Meadows will play a misanthropic former high school English teacher, Gregg, who has turned into an examiner and wants to quickly finish the driving tests, Dyer will play the character of Colette, who is a generous and quirky examiner and wants the driving students to pass their tests.

DMV Season 1 will also star Molly Kearney, who will play Barbara. Her character plays the role of the boss at the DMV. Alex Tarrant will play the handsome Noa and Tony Cavalero will play Vic, who was a former bouncer. Gigi Zumbado will be seen as Ceci, who is the cheeky drivers licence photo taker.

The show is executively produced by Dana Klein, Wendi Trilling, Aaron Kaplan, Robyn Meisinger, and Trent O’Donnell.

The teaser for the comedy show has been released and promises to enthrall the viewers with plenty of laughs and quirky characters. Interestingly, the series is based on a short story by author Katherine Heiny.

According to The Hollywood Reporter via Deadline, CBS has shown trust in the new show and has already given the green light for seven additional episodes of DMV Season 1.

The publication reported the news in September 2025 and confirmed that the series has gotten a full season pickup even before the premiere of the show. With seven more episodes in tow, DMV will now have a full season of 20 episodes.

The Hollywood Reporter also stated that a full season order even before the premiere of the show is unusual for CBS. However, it seems that DMV has already enchanted the network with its first few episodes.

The show has already reached the end of production on its initial set of 13 episodes, as reported by the publication. Dana Klein has written the pilot episode of the show and is the showrunner for the series.
