Nickelodeon has a brand new animated series, Avatar: Seven Havens, coming together under creators Michael Di Martina and Bryan Konietzko. It has been more than a decade since we last saw an Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel series. It was revealed in February 2025 that the 2D animated series was greenlit.

While initial details were sparse, a new report has shed light on the series' release window, and fans may need to practice patience.

Here's everything we know about Avatar: Seven Havens.

Avatar: Seven Havens, the upcoming animated series: Release window revealed

Though Paramount and Nickelodeon confirmed the upcoming animated series in the Avatar franchise earlier this year, it appears fans will have to wait for a long time before they actually get to see it. Ironically, this news came via Toy Magazine, a somewhat unexpected source for a major entertainment update. The publication noted:

"Avatar enthusiasts can anticipate a new theatrical release in January, along with a newly announced series coming in 2027."

The new theatrical release being referred to is The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, which is slated to release in January 2026. But the 'newly announced series' that this magazine mentioned alongside is in fact Avatar: Seven Havens, meaning fans will not be able to witness this exciting installment to the bending franchise until 2027.

While this news might be disappointing for fans as the series will not be releasing in the near future, the reports do provide an official, concrete idea regarding the release window for the series. Avatar Studios originally described the upcoming series Avatar: Seven Havens as:

"A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse."

In the last Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel series, The Legend of Korra, fans witnessed Korra as the center of the series. The upcoming series will revolve around Korra's successor, Pavi, a young earthbender. Pavi finds out that she's not the saviour of Earth as an Avatar; rather, she's seen as a harbinger of doom.

Aang and Korra were part of stories that were filled with dire circumstances they were forced to confront; however, the stakes are up in the upcoming series as this successor will have to confront a universe which is struggling with a 'cataclysmic event' while being hunted by both humans and spirits. Pavi has to work together with her mysterious, long-lost twin in order to save the Seven Havens in Avatar: Seven Havens.

Avatar: Seven Havens will be spread over 26 episodes, divided into two "books" or seasons, 1 and 2, each consisting of 13 half-hour episodes.

Even though Avatar: Seven Havens is not going to release anytime soon, the plot details revealed so far are extremely thrilling, making it worth the tantalizing wait.
