Doc Season 2 Episode 10 recap: A patient's death triggers a painful memory for Amy

Doc Season 2 Episode 10, titled 'Chief,' aired on FOX on January 6. The network's medical drama is finally back after a short hiatus with an intense and emotional midseason premiere for the doctors and patients at the Westside Hospital.

The midseason premiere of Doc Season 2 saw Michael trying to figure out Amy's hacker, who is sending emails and messages to people on her behalf. While Amy wants to stop her medication and unmask her hacker, the team advises her not to. As Amy treats an unresponsive patient, she is triggered by her memories from the past, including her son's death and Chief Joan pushing her to become the next chief in the hospital.

Doc Season 2 Episode 10 saw an unlikely pairing between Sonya and Amy, who were treating an unhoused man named Tim, who had been dropped off at the hospital. While Sonya and Amy do not see eye to eye, they had no time to ponder over their differences as Tim showed signs of crush injuries and was paranoid that people were following him. Amy thinks they should order bloodwork but Sonya does not trust her methods and suggests a different approach.

Elsewhere, Jake sends Tim's photo to the police and learns that he went missing seven years ago and was declared dead by them four months ago. The police connect Jake to Beth, Tim's wife, who is shocked and emotional after seeing her husband alive. After Beth and Tim have a hearty reunion, Tim gets paranoid again. Amy calms him down with a sedative and questions Beth about her husband's schizophrenia. However, Beth has no idea how Tim went from a normal person to this and reveals that he is also unaware that the couple has a son, as he went missing around the time Beth found out she was pregnant.

Hannah and Jake's patients are connected to Tim in Doc Season 2 Episode 10

While Sonya and Amy continue to butt heads over Tim's treatment in Doc Season 2 Episode 10, Hannah treats a high school athlete named Chris, who is very sick. Elsewhere, Jake and TJ are assigned to another high schooler named Shannon, who is unresponsive. While her TOX screen showed no signs, Jake discovers that she has alcohol and other date rape drugs in her system. After the duo tells Shannon's mother that they discovered sexual activity, she is concerned and tries to find a link through her Snapchat.

Amy has a look at Shannon's charts and is shocked to discover the same signs as Chris and Tim. She thinks that the three cases are related. Shannon's mother confronts Chris, who reveals that he is her friend and they met a homeless guy living under a beam when they were 'hanging out.'

Doc Season 2 Episode 10 takes a harrowing turn when TJ suspects the site might be the problem and he goes down wearing a hazmat suit. TJ has a chilling discovery and tells everyone that the beam is rich in copper sulfate, which has likely made Chris, Tim, and Shannon sick. As the doctors grapple with this information, Chris goes into arrest.

Chris' death triggers a tragic memory for Amy in Doc Season 2 Episode 10

While Chris' parents break down in front of their child, Hannah and Amy begin working on Chris. However, all their efforts are in vain and Hannah emotionally declares the kid dead. The scene turns emotional as Chris' parents blame the staff for their son's death and plead with them to bring him back. However, Beth takes charge of the situation and calms them down, thanking their son for saving her husband and Shannon.

Elsewhere, Amy is shocked by Chris' death and has a flashback to the day when Michael revealed their son's passing to her. Amy remembers how she uncontrollably sobbed behind the hospital door after Danny's death, which enrages her, and she blames Sonya for Chris' death. While Jake tries to calm her down, she lashes out at him and leaves.

The final moments of Doc Season 2 Episode 10 saw Sonya sitting in the locker room and blaming herself for Chris' death and TJ consoles her.
