Does Ingrid die in IT: Welcome to Derry? Character’s fate explored

IT: Welcome to Derry Episode 7 brings forth a gruelling combination of terror and mystery in the storyline. A lot of past stories that are connected to the present situation are revealed in this episode. From IT taking over Pennywise to his terrorizing the people while taking advantage of the fire at Black Spot.

In this episode, a tragic death happens, along with IT bringing out his ultimate weapon, the lights. Ingrid’s confrontation with IT, along with IT waking up after his hibernation is disrupted, creates quite a chaotic situation in this episode of IT: Welcome to Derry.

Ingrid’s fate in IT: Welcome to Derry

From the beginning of this episode in IT: Welcome to Derry, it is revealed that Ingrid’s relationship with his father, Pennywise, the clown, was deep. She adored her father, often overlooking the disrespect he received from the other children as admiration. Pennywise did not correct her; rather, for him, her daughter was also equally significant.

Pennywise was able to draw the children with his clown sketches. This ability of Pennywise was the first thing that drew IT. Hence, when IT found an opportunity to take Pennywise, he took it. He then used Pennywise’s form to terrorize children as the years progressed. In this episode, after IT begins to attack the people at the Black Spot after the fire starts, Ingrid arrives. Ingrid thinks that IT is her father.

Her love for her father blinded her, preventing her from understanding that IT is not her father. However, the moment IT tries to escape, Ingrid begins to confront him. She understands that IT is not her father. Hearing this, IT opens its mouth and shines the light in her direction.

Seeing the light, Ingrid completely loses her consciousness. Ingrid then ends up in a catatonic state. However, this episode does not reveal further about her situation. The lights that IT uses can completely hypnotize its victims. He could also use the lights on his victims to make them his puppets, just as he did to Henry Bowers.

It would definitely be interesting to see how IT uses Ingrid in the upcoming episodes of IT: Welcome to Derry. As Ingrid is fascinated by IT, and she also was under the impression that IT is actually her father, IT might use Ingrid for some of his evil tasks in the upcoming episodes of the series. At the end of this episode in IT: Welcome to Derry, because of Shaw’s decision to dig out the stone-like structure that was preventing IT from getting out of the jungle, IT is able to escape his prison.

He was supposed to go back to his hibernation after the cycle; however, as the barrier is now removed, he wakes up. At the very end of the episode of IT: Welcome to Derry, IT arrives at Will’s house while Will’s mother takes Hank away to Rose so that she is able to help him escape. IT then shows Will the same deadlights, putting him in a catatonic state just as he did with Ingrid.

Rich’s death in this episode depicts that this series is not afraid to take risks. Rich’s death makes the viewers understand that the lives of the characters are not safe. Hence, now that Will and Ingrid are under the influence of the light, the next episodes are always raising the anticipation amongst the viewers.
