Does Milo die in Mayor of Kingstown? Character’s fate explored

Mayor of Kingstown is a crime thriller show featuring Jeremy Renner, Dianne Wiest, and others. The show is created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon and premiered on Paramount+ in 2021. Since then, the show has had three seasons and a fourth season is set to premiere soon on October 26, 2025. The gritty series is set in the fictional town of Kingstown, Michigan, which is overrun by lawlessness.

Amidst this harsh reality, the McLusky family has tried to broker peace between the street gangs and the police. The show also revolves around Michael or Mike McLusky (Renner), who becomes the mayor after his brother dies.

Mayor of Kingstown deals with themes like corruption, violence, justice, and has many important characters, one of which is Milo, who dies at the hand of the protagonist in Mayor of Kingstown Season 3.

Does Milo die in Mayor of Kingstown?

Played by Aidan Gillen, Milo Sunter is a Russian mobster in the show. While the character is known for his ability to trick others and quickly escape a prison, as seen in the first season of the show, he did suffer from an unfortunate incident when, in the Season 2 finale of the series, he is on a boat just seconds before it explodes.

However, viewers do see him talking to Tatiana and reassuring her that everything was alright. However, according to Screen Rant, Milo would have to do a lot of extensive planning and that was not shown in the second season. Further, in the Season 3 premiere of Mayor of Kingstown, a small detail hinted at Milo being seemingly killed.

In Season 3, Episode 1, Tatiana welcomes Konstantin to her club, which hinted at Milo’s death, as she was willing to accept a new leader. Further, at the end of the episode, Tatiana is about to be killed by Konstantin when she pleads and mentions that “I gave you Milo”. This admission made it seem that Milo had actually died.

Therefore, according to Screen Rant, there was a possibility that Milo had died after the Season 2 finale with the boat explosion. However, the truth was revealed in the penultimate episode of Mayor of Kingstown Season 3, when Milo comes back. However, he is soon killed by Mike.

How Milo comes back in Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 and ultimately dies

In Season 3, Episode 9 of Mayor of Kingstown, it is revealed towards the end that Milo had never died and he had faked his death during the boat explosion incident in the Season 2 finale.

During the beginning of the episode, Iris realizes that Konstantin killed Tatiana because he knows that Milo is still alive. She tells this to Mike, who tells her that the boat had exploded and therefore, Milo could not be alive. However, he ends up returning.

In Season 3, Episode 9, the ending moments see Roman meeting a woman who is setting up papers for Iris. Roman gives her money as he makes the lady promise that Iris will live a safe, new life. However, Milo is revealed to be alive and shoots Roman but does not kill him.

In the Season 3 finale, Mike disarms Milo as he sends away Iris. Mike then has a conversation with Milo and he admits that he was responsible for the bus tragedy. Further, Milo was also the reason behind the bombing of Mike's mother, Mariam’s, funeral. Milo taunts Mike for being the reason for his mother's death and Mike shoots Milo twice.
