Played by Matthew Glave, Oscar is a recurring character in the series. Oscar has appeared in every season of the show and he first appears in the episode, “Manhunt”. He is incarcerated at Victorville and he first meets Nolan when a prison bus overturns and several inmates try to escape. Oscar is caught as he was stealing a car from a garage. Oscar has been in prison since a long time and is serving prison time for multiple felonies.

Oscar is a recurring character in The Rookie, who often tries to escape prison or help the police in exchange for more benefits. In season 2, when an alert is broadcast about a missile, Oscar tries to escape as the other inmates are being sent to a shelter. However, he returns to custody. In season 3, it is revealed that he has a child with Cindy and he cheated on his girlfriend with Cindy. Oscar tries to use his child Ashley to make an escape but is caught.

In season 5, Oscar donates his kidney to his daughter, even though it is both out of compassion and monetary benefit. However, after the surgery, it is revealed that Ashley will not send any money. No, Oscar does not die in the 7th and latest season of the show. He is still at large along with Jason. Nolan tries to calculate Oscar’s movements and thinks that Oscar will likely rob a stash of diamonds. Oscar finds his former friend in a motel and sees Nolan in the same motel. Oscar then kills his associate and tasers Nolan, who gets unconscious. He abducts Nolan and plans to make him dig up the diamonds in the desert. Nolan and Oscar have a small talk over their complicated relationship. As Nolan is held at gunpoint, he digs up the diamonds and threatens to kill Nolan. On the other hand, Nyla is driving in the desert with a man and when a drone finds Nolan and Oscar, Nyla orders the man to run his drone into Oscar. Oscar is caught off-guard and Nolan fights with him. However, Oscar breaks free and two men in a helicopter come and take him away. However, Oscar has to leave the diamonds behind. Therefore, Oscar has not died and is still at large.
