Down Cemetery Road Episode 7 recap: Sarah, Zoe and Downey's search for Dinah takes a fatal turn

Apple TV's latest thriller series Down Cemetery Road, starring Emma Thompson, is gearing up for its season finale. The search for Dinah is getting intense than ever, and the penultimate episode proves it. Previously, in Episode 6, we saw how Sarah, Zoe, Amos, Hamza, and Downey were heading towards the military base on the hidden island.

Episode 7 of Down Cemetery Road, titled Lights Go Out which dropped on December 3, starts with Steph reading a book to little Dinah. Meanwhile, Downey arrives on the island by boat while guards are seen playing football outside. Elsewhere, Amos cruises towards the island in a sleek black speedboat. Downey climbs the steps and walks through the rusty metal gate into the compound.

Amos takes the back route as he scales through the rocks. A hooded figure shoots a guard, and when Steph checks the surveillance footage, she knows that the person is coming for Dinah. She takes Dinah and rushes through the corridors frantically while the hooded figure follows them. Dinah and Steph then enter an abandoned medical room, and Steph takes a scapel.

The hooded figure enters the room and points a gun at Steph. Steph asks him to stay away. Dinah pokes her head from behind Steph, and she sees that it's none other than her Uncle Mike. Dinah rushes to hug Downey, and it's one of the most emotional moments of the episode. Downey then consumes some pills. Dinah hands her teddy to him. As Downey checks it thoroughly, he knows there's something fishy and politely asks her to give it to him. Meanwhile, Amos tracks Dinah's location using the tracker on the teddy and takes an ATV ride there.

Back on the mainland, Talia finally steps into the political shadows that have been hovering since the show's beginning. Janice rings up DI Varma and tells him that Zoe had told her to contact him if she went missing for some time. Janice then hands Varma an envelope that probably contains evidence of a covert mission.

Varma hands it over to Talia and sets up a meeting with C. Talia confronts C with some hard-hitting questions. First, she asks him about Dr. Issac Wright and his suspicious death. When the question makes C uncomfortable, Talia knows that he's hiding something. She asks C to leave the office while instructing Cheski to dig into the information she received. It seems like C's career is in grave danger.

On the other hand, Sarah and Zoe seem to be struggling on the ferry. They couldn't figure out which direction to head, and the fuel's low. However, they take the help of the ferry's captain and finally reach the island. They see a warning sign stating there are landmines along the beach. Zoe insists they are fake, while Sarah isn't so sure.

They trek across the island, and they reach Downey and Dinah moments before Amos does. There's no time to plan, no time to argue. Zoe reveals she knows what happened to Downey and the other soldiers. Sarah gives Dinah the drawing from her friends, and then gunfire tears the silence apart.

The series hasn't shied away from violence, but the death of Downey lands differently. Steph dies after she gets shot by Amos. While trying to draw Amos away from Sarah, Zoe, and Dinah, Downey runs out of ammunition and is cornered. Amos shoots him and sprays a few words before casually killing him.

With Downey gone, the episode moves into its explosive final stretch. Zoe tries to distract Amos long enough for Sarah and Dinah to reach the boat. Amos fires at the beach instead, triggering landmines. One detonates close to Zoe, hurling her into the air.

Sarah is forced to flee with Dinah. They jump off a cliff. The captain's ferry waits offshore, promising at least a temporary refuge. But Amos is still alive. He's still armed. And he's furious.

The final shot leaves two burning questions: Is Zoe alive? How far will Amos go now that his mission has turned deadly?

The finale episode promises a showdown. Hamza's delayed arrival suggests another storm is waiting.
