Production of HBO's Harry Potter series is in full swing, and some snippets from the filming are giving us hints for what's coming. Nicholas Flamel, a renowned French wizard and alchemist in the world of Harry Potter, is celebrated as the only known creator of the Philosopher’s Stone.

The stone is a magical substance of incredible power and could transform any metal into pure gold and produce the Elixir of Life, which would grant immortality to people who drank it frequently. Nicolas Flamel is most likely going to feature in the series.

Recently, MyTimeToShineHello (@MyTimeToShineH) reported the first look of John Lithgrow as Albus Dumbledore on X. Now, Wizarding World Direct (@WWW_Direct) on X has reported and posted a video from the show being filmed of Albus Dumbledore talking to Nicolas Flamel and his wife Perenelle.

The Harry Potter series will feature Nicolas Flamel

Nicolas Flamel's Philosopher's Stone is the subject of the first Harry Potter book and is also the stone the book and first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is named after. It is the stone Professor Quirinus Quirrell stole because it could give Voldemort a new body and make him immortal.

Nicolas Flamel, the creator of the stone is most likely going to be featured in the Harry Potter show, since a behind-the-scenes clip posted by Wizarding World Direct (@WWW_Direct) on X, has shown the character and his wife taking to Albus Dumbledore.

Born in the early 14th century, Flamel attended Beauxbatons Academy of Magic in the Pyrenees Mountains of France. During his studies, he met Perenelle, who would later become his wife and lifelong companion. Together, they used the Elixir of Life to extend their lives for over six centuries, making them two of the oldest known witch and wizard in history.

Flamel was a close friend of Albus Dumbledore. The two met when Dumbledore was a young wizard studying alchemy in Paris, and they remained close for many years. By the 1990s, Nicolas and Perenelle had settled in Devon, England, living quietly, avoiding the spotlight.

The stone was kept at Gringotts Wizarding Bank, but when Dumbledore realized the stone was no longer there, he asked Flamel for permission to keep it hidden at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Dumbledore had done so fearing that Voldemort might try to steal it to gain power in his weakend state. This fear came true, but Harry, Hermione, and Ron stopped Voldemort’s plan before it could succeed.

After these events, Flamel and Dumbledore agreed that the Philosopher’s Stone should be destroyed to prevent it from ever being misused again. Thus, the video in the clip could be the scene of Dumbledore talking to Flamel and Perenelle about destroying the Philosopher's Stone. The film did not show us that conversation, but since the series intends to give a deeper look into the novels, we might see the actual conversation play out.

Other than John Lithgrow, the Harry Potter television series stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, among others. The show is directed by Mark Mylod, while Francesca Gardiner serves as showrunner.

Mylod and Gardiner are also executive producers along with J. K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman. The series is collaboratively produced by HBO Entertainment, Brontë Film and TV, Warner Bros. Television, and Heyday Films.

The Harry Potter television series will be released on HBO in early 2027.
