The official description of the much-anticipated thriller Duster from Max explains that the show will be following:

"the life of a gutsy getaway driver for a growing crime syndicate that goes from dangerous to wildly, stupidly dangerous when a tenacious young agent comes into town hellbent on taking his crime family down"

The "gutsy getaway driver" Jim will be played by Josh Holloway, who is known for his role as James Sawyer Ford from ABC's Lost. The "tenacious young agent" Nina will be played by Rachel Hilson, who is best known for her role as a young Beth in This is Us and from Red, White, and Royal Blue.

Apart from Holloway and Hilson, Keith David as Ezra, Greg Grunberg as Abbott, Sydney Elisabeth as Genesis, Asivak Koostachin, Camille Guaty, Benjamin Charles Watson, and Adriana Aluna Martinez as Luna will also be seen on Duster.

Duster is set for an exclusive release at Max on May 15, 2025, at 9 PM ET / 6 PM ET. The series is an eight-part drama. After an initial premiere of the first episode on May 15, the rest of the episodes will air on a weekly basis every Thursday at the same time through July 3.

Duster, produced in association with Warner Bros. Television, will be exploring some deep, complicated topics as well, along with the gritty and fast-paced criminal world. Abrams talked about his vision for the series in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter:

"I had this image of a phone in the middle of the desert and a car driving up, and a guy getting on the phone to find out where he was meant to go next. It implied some kind of crazy intrigue.....and I always knew there would be an FBI agent who showed up. But it wasn’t until we started talking about what her story is, that we started building this story towards something that felt twisty and turn-y and ultimately really satisfying.
That became the goal: How do we tell a crazy story that actually ends up being driven towards one point and where we’re actually headed towards something that feels inevitable? Where we would have the vibe of it, the spirit of it, the sense of humor and the sense of absurdity?"

Holloway, as an anti-hero, along with Hilson, who is known for her nuanced and emotional acting in This is Us, will bring some very exciting elements to the drama series Duster as described by Abrams:

"It isn’t straightforward. There are a lot of things that you don’t expect. What I love about the show, and what I think LaToya and I had the most fun with, is you never quite know, when you open a door, what kind of unexpected criminal mind is going to be behind it."

It will be extremely exciting to watch this much-anticipated series from J.J. Abrams upon its release on May 15, 2025.
