What's cooking at Disney Branded Television? A spooktacular new series inspired by the Eerie Elementary book series has just been approved for a pilot episode. The series is titled Eerie Prep (or Eerie Academy), and it is a spin on the creepy, chaotic school story that the fans of the genre already adore in a completely new light.
This time, Sam Graves is not a third-grade boy as in the books. Rather, Sam is re-envisioned as a girl in her teens at a fancy prep school. Sam becomes part of a group of strange classmates who happen to be well-versed in the supernatural when her sister simply vanishes. They will work together trying to uncover the strange secrets of the school.
Eerie Prep has a powerful creative team working behind it, with writers David H. Steinberg and Keetgi Kogan, showrunner M. Raven Metzner, and director Eric Dean Seaton. Talent like that is making Eerie Prep Disney’s next big supernatural adventure, coming to both Disney Channel and Disney+.
From Eerie Elementary to Eerie Prep

The adapted TV version, rather than adhering to the precise plot of the books, adds new vigor by introducing the lead character, Sam Graves, as a teenage girl at prep school, rather than a boy in elementary school. It is not only more diverse but also opens the door to older, high-school-style drama and mystery (think fancy uniforms and late-night spooky adventures).
The narrative of Eerie Prep becomes even more sinister as Sam loses his sister and joins forces with a gang of fellow students, each possessing his or her weird and supernatural peculiarities, in order to find out what happened.
In the original, the school itself had life and was wicked. The entire school now seems larger, more intimidating, and shrouded in mystery, and that is exactly what teenagers who enjoy a blend of horror and humor with heart need. The gender reversal is not merely cosmetic; it puts a new spin on the story but retains the atmosphere of the original that made it so entertaining.
The team behind Eerie Prep’s pilot
The story is not the only one that is getting a glow-up; Eerie Prep’s team is full of talent! The script is being developed by writers David H. Steinberger and Keetgi Kogan, who will bring their narrative flair to this suspenseful adventure. M. Raven Metzner is the showrunner of Eerie Prep, and he will be setting the tone, pacing, and overall vision. The director of the show is Eric Dean Seaton, and he will determine just how playfully creepy Sam’s world will appear on the screen.
The cast is just as exciting. The protagonist is Madalen Mills (you may remember her as Jingle Jangle), playing the role of Sam Graves. With her are Niko Ceci and Charlie Ellis as Antonio and Lucy, respectively (Sam's best friends), Hanna Huffman as Quinn, Michaela Russell as Krla, Madison Rojas as Paxton, and Alex Bar as Devon. And there, Felicia Day comes with a special appearance as Dr. Brewster.
Fans should anticipate a fun, sharp, and spooky teen horror-comedy with this team, but with all the best aspects and a heart.
What to expect
Disney Branded Television is evidently on a spooky streak. More recently, they have been leaning into supernatural tales with series such as Wizards Beyond Waverly Place and Vampirina: Teenage Vampire. Today, Eerie Prep enters the list, blending mystery with a hint of magic for the younger audiences.
Eerie Prep has been put next to other new initiatives, such as Coven Academy, a witchy dramedy set in New Orleans, or even a new, gender-flipped version of Holes.
By having Disney release them across the Channel as well as Disney+, it seems like a supernatural buffet to delight both TV fans and audiences of streaming platforms is on the way.
