Doll deal turns into a hostage situation in Elsbeth Season 3 Episode 2
The second episode of Elsbeth Season 3 begins in a dark alley where we see two men doing what seems to be an illegal deal. They exchange the money and the product at the same time. However, when the buyer opens the product, he is not happy with the thing he received.
The seller tells him he is “outbid” and that “$6000 would not be enough to get the product he originally wanted. This begins a scuffle between the two of them when, all of a sudden, the seller falls and hits his head. When the buyer calls out to the man, he sees that he is dead. The tone of the episode already starts with a grim aspect.

However, when the scene cuts to the product for which the scuffle began, it is revealed that it is just a doll. The next day, when Elsbeth arrives at the crime scene, it is revealed that the seller is actually Patrick Palmer, a toy store manager. She deduces that the hair that is found at the crime scene belongs to a wig, as it is made of nylon.
Her observant nature also comes in handy when she understands that the toy store is involved in the case after finding the wrapper. Elsbeth, along with the team, reaches the toy store to investigate the case when she comes across the exact man who was making a deal with Patrick.
The man seems to be exchanging the doll that he took from Patrick the previous night. Elsbeth begins to speak to him about the beauty of a toy store, when she spots the details that connect this man to the case. She sees that the doll that the man is exchanging has the same hair, and the ring that the man is wearing is also connected to the gemstone that was found at the crime scene.
This man, Nolan Hurst, understands that Elsbeth is indicating Summerville for help, and soon takes Summerville’s gun, and everyone in the toy store ends up in a hostage situation. Outside the toy store, backup arrives. Elsbeth explains the situation to Officer Tully, and he deduces that Nolan is doing drug deals through the doll.

The situation inside the toy store is not how hostage situations are usually. Complete chaos ensues, and it can be understood that Nolan is not accustomed to handling these situations. Nolan then asks Elsbeth in exchange for another hostage. After Elsbeth enters, she begins to plan to solve the situation.
She starts to speak to Nolan about his daughter and understands that the doll was for his daughter. Using Elsbeth’s idea, the police call Nolan’s daughter, who tries to persuade him, but Nolan understands that she is lying. In the end, Elsbeth understands that Nolan did it all for his daughter, so she tries to save him.
The episode ends with Nolan getting arrested and Elsbeth assuring that she is going to help him find a criminal lawyer. Once again, Elsbeth proves that she has the sharpest mind in the room in Elsbeth Season 3.
