Elsbeth Season 3 is bringing a big guest star in Episode 7. Oscar-winner Dianne Wiest will appear as a nun. Her character is Reverend Mother Constance Mary Cabot, leader of a convent that becomes part of Elsbeth's next case.

The episode is titled "And Then There Were Nuns", and it is set to air on November 20, 2025, on CBS. Elsbeth, played by Carrie Preston, will go into the convent, and her investigation will collide with Wiest's character. Meanwhile, Elsbeth's son Teddy, played by Ben Levi Ross, continues digging into the past of Alec Bloom, who is played by Ivan Hernandez.

Elsbeth Season 3, Episode 7 shows a convent under threat

In episode 7 of Elsbeth Season 3, the convent is not just a holy place, but also, it is in trouble. A pop star, played by Lindsey Normington, buys the failing convent. Her money could save the building, but things are not simple: the purchase soon turns the sacred space into a murder scene.

Wiest as Mother Constance Mary Cabot is firm and proud. She does not want to give up her convent. Elsbeth tries to help, but she also wants to find out what really happened behind the walls. The pop star's arrival stirs up the sisters. Mother Constance does not trust her motives. Elsbeth uses this moment to insert herself gently into the convent's business, offering help, but her help could come with questions and secrets.

At the same time, Teddy, Elsbeth's son, is not idle. He is working on a feature story about Alec Bloom's past. After some urging from Marissa Gold, played by Sarah Steele, who is now Bloom's campaign manager, Teddy begins to uncover things that could be uncomfortable.

Behind the scenes of Elsbeth Season 3 and the bigger picture

For showrunner Jonathan Tolins, having Dianne Wiest on Elsbeth Season 3 is deeply personal. He says he first met her 41 years ago, when he was working as an apprentice at a theatre festival. That early meeting helped shape his career. Now, working with her on Elsbeth is something he calls a "full-circle" moment.

Tolins told TV Insider that Wiest is astonishing in her part. He seems very happy about her joining the show. The reverend mother role is dramatic and grounded. This guest role is also part of a larger list of special stars in Elsbeth Season 3. Besides Wiest, other big names join in this season, which builds excitement for fans of Elsbeth. The writer of Episode 7 is Matthew K. Begbie, and the director is Peter Sollett. The episode runs for about 60 minutes, according to the schedule.

This is Episode 7 for Elsbeth Season 3, and it could be pivotal. A sacred place is under threat, and yet a simple case could become incredibly personal. Elsbeth will need her cleverest moves to balance compassion, truth, and justice amid the convent, and all of Teddy's investigational pressure may exacerbate things. Given Dianne Wiest is playing the nun in charge of the others, the stakes feel even higher, and there is an urgency to get to the bottom of the mystery.
