Emily in Paris Season 5 is coming back with the same ingredients of romance, glamour and wanderlust, only this time everything is bigger. The new season premieres on Netflix on December 18, 2025, and it will follow the story of two cities not only in Paris but also in Rome, as overtures to Venice may also be observed. The story is spaced out on the classic European scenes where Emily is facing new challenges at work, stronger relationships and even more chaotic love affairs.

Emily in Paris Season 5 will revive the characters that the viewers already enjoy, and there will also be new personalities that are likely to rock the life of Emily in a different way. Here is a brief overview of who stars as whom, the old favorites, and the new faces who could alter Emily in terms of her career, friendships and love interests.

The lead actors in Emily in Paris Season 5 remain the same, yet all the characters appear to be open to new developments. Emily Cooper, portrayed by Lily Collins, is back as the American marketing executive who is optimistic and ambitious in her life but whose existence in Paris (and now Italy) continues to get complicated. Her best friend and solid back-up Mindy Chen, played by Ashley Park also returns, and she provides support and tips when Emily experiences changing loyalties and daring career choices.

Sylvie Grateau, the character played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, remains the sharp, stylish, and even intimidating boss of Emily. Her combination of grace, wit and unwilling mentorship continues to influence much of Emily’s professional life.

Favorites at the office Julien (Samuel Arnold) and Luc (Bruno Gouery) come in with their playful flirting and well-timed jokes, despite the fact that both Paris and Rome add more seriousness to the relationships between all characters.

In the meantime, it is expected that Gabriel played by Lucas Bravo, Antoine Lambert, portrayed by William Abadie, and Alfie by Lucien Laviscount, will also reappear, giving the story some emotional background, unresolved relationships, and perhaps some surprise reunions.

These returning characters, put together, make up the core of Emily’s messy yet entertaining world that is rife with career issues, manipulative friendships, and unstable love affairs.

Emily in Paris Season 5 introduces some new faces and a few returning absentees, predetermining new disputes, loyalties, and plot twists. Bryan Greenberg comes in as Jake, an expatriate American who introduces a fresh dimension to the Paris-Rome blend with his outsider perspective. Michèle Laroque comes in as Yvette, an old friend of Sylvie whose history and influence may upset Emily’s personal and work life.

Another major addition is Minnie Driver as Princess Jane, a flowery and cynical figure but also wily royal who can cause tension and bring unpredictable alliances. We will also witness the comeback of Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) who may have a bigger part now that Emily will be spending more time in Rome suggesting romance or new complications.

Not all people, however, are returning. Camille (who had been portrayed by Camille Razat) is not coming back this season. In short, Emily in Paris Season 5 appears to take the level higher: new acquaintances, new competitions, cross-cultural conflicts, and lots of drama which can put Emily in the circumstances she has never previously experienced.

What to expect

Emily in Paris Season 5 features a larger cast, two cities and a significant change in everybody including Emily. The fact that she is already in Rome and still in touch with Paris reveals that she is finally going to take the next step in her career and become more responsible at Agence Grateau. There are complications with that growth, however: old feelings for Gabriel and her blossoming connection with Marcello might reenter the picture, now compounded with distance, ambition, and new demands.

Friendships and office politics might change as well with the addition of friends and unfamiliar faces such as Jake, Yvette and Princess Jane into the mix. Even traditionally comedic figures such as Julien and Luc may be given more serious plots as the show becomes more emotional.

All in all, Emily in Paris Season 5 seems to be all-prepared to explore how Emily and her friends can balance love, work and identity in two bustling cities Paris and Rome, and confront issues that might alter their lives in unexpected, unpredictable ways.
