The official teaser for Emily in Paris Season 5 is out, confirming the return of the fan-favorite, Emily Cooper (played by Lily Collins). The newly released clip also features other key figures like Marcello, Gabriel, Sylvie, and even Alfie.
Though Emily will be in Rome, handling the new office of Agence Grateau, Paris will remain an important part of her life. The creator of the show had previously teased:
"From Parisian rooftops to Roman ruins, we can’t wait to share where Emily’s next chapter takes us."
Most importantly, the teaser hints that Emily is truly happy. And this time, not with Gabriel, but with Marcello Muratori. Even Mindy can be heard saying, "Rome looks good on you", to which Cooper replies, "Right?".
And when your bestie approves of something, you know that it's actually good. And for Emily, Rome and a relationship with Marcello are really important. Even fans on the internet are debating over team Marcello and Gabriel, with many wanting Cooper to stay with her new boyfriend.
She got into a relationship with Alfie, but they broke up. And when she finally realized her love for Gabriel and the two even began dating, Camille's obsession with staying with Gabriel once again ruined it all.
But when Emily is with Marcello, she is nothing but happy. Keep reading to explore why she must stay with the Roman guy and not look back at Gabriel.
Emily in Paris Season 5: Why Emily is better with Marcello not Gabriel

As mentioned above, the Emily in Paris Season 5 teaser has fans sharing their mixed reactions over the protagonist's love life. And it finally looks like our favorite marketing girl is getting the happiness she’s been chasing since day one.
After years of love triangles, heartbreak, and career chaos, Emily seems to have found real peace and romance with Marcello. Since the fourth chapter of the hit Netflix series, Mercello has taken care of Emily's happiness.
When Cooper was in a relationship with Gabriel and was stuck in the snow, it was Marcello who came to her rescue. Despite knowing that Emily doesn't know how to ski, Gabriel left her. It explains a lot. She wasn't his priority until Camille's affair with Sofia was exposed.
Gabriel’s arc includes repeated patterns: he delays Emily, he is emotionally unavailable, he has unresolved ex-girlfriend issues (with Camille), and he often seems disconnected from Emily's world. Even Lucas Bravo, the actor who plays Gabrield, admitted confusion about his character’s behavior.
Brave admitted that he loved Gabriel in Part 1 of Season 4, but didn't understand his actions in Part 2. Bravo said:
"...But Part 2 was weird. It was really weird to shoot the ski… all that stuff was… I don’t understand him anymore..."
And then he mentioned that "we'll see" in Emily in Paris Season 5, as the creator knows how to handle the story.
Not only this, Emily is now seeking work-life balance in Emily in Paris Season 5. She wants to stay in a stable and meaningful relationship with someone who gives her the time and love that she deserves. And Marcello has been giving it since he stepped into Cooper's life.

Lily Collins on Marcello being a "whole new adventure" for Emily
Interestingly, Lily Collins also shared that Marcello is nothing less than a new adventure in Emily's life. He came when Cooper was heartbroken and confused about her love life. The actress said:
"Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily, because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work-life balance."
Collins continued:
"We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time."
Creator Daren Star also shed light on Marcello and Emily's relationship and mentioned that there's more to come for Emily in Paris Season 5. Star said:
"I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season."
And now, the teaser suggests that Emily is enjoying her time and peace in Rome. However, there will be new challenges in her personal and professional lives, both, and it would be intriguing to watch how Cooper handles them.
Emily in Paris Season 5 will come out on December 18, 2025 only on Netflix.
