Adolescence cinematographer Matthew Lewis recently confirmed that another such one-shot series will be in the works eventually. The Emmy-winning cinematographer revealed, however, that this time, the story would be quite different from the one explored earlier.

Adolescence was released earlier this year, in March 2025, and followed the story of thirteen-year-old Jamie Miller, who was arrested for allegedly murdering his schoolmate. This is followed by a bone-chilling narrative of how the family is affected as their son is accused of murder and the revelations that follow.

The series went on to win eight Emmy awards, and the cinematographer Matthew Lewis was also among the people who won an Emmy for their work on the show.

Now, in a recent panel at WAVES Film Bazaar, the cinematographer revealed that he is now looking forward to working on another show, which will feature a similar style of shooting, although the story will be completely different.

Adolescence cinematographer Matthew Lewis reveals that he would be interested in working on another project featuring a similar style of shooting

In a recent panel at the WAVES Film Bazaar, Lewis spoke about his upcoming projects, revealing that he would eventually work on a project that featured the same style of shooting as Adolescence. However, he assured the viewers that the storyline explored in this show would be different from the Emmy-winning show, since the story for that was completed.

Although the style of shooting was really appreciated by the audience worldwide, Lewis explained that they would not pick up this project immediately because they wanted to give the viewers a breather instead of saturating the market with one-shot productions immediately.

"There won’t be something that is the same story, because that story is definitely finished. But we’ll probably be making another one of the same format down the line, but not just yet. We’re going to let it breathe… we don’t want to saturate the market with one-shot, because everyone’s going to get really bored of it eventually."

Lewis even opened up about how they had tested various cameras before determining the best one to use for the hour-long one-shot episodes. While they had initially considered using Sony Venice and Arri Alexa mini cameras, they finally went with the DJI Ronin 4D paired with Cooke SP3 lenses.

"My grip actually suggested to use the 4D from DJI, and we had a test day with it, and we fell in love with it. It meant that we could hand the camera between people really easily. It didn’t have to be attached to us, because it’s so lightweight."

Although Lewis mentioned that they would explore the one-take style of shooting once again, a bit further down the line, fans are looking forward to seeing his brilliance on screen once again.

Adolescence is available to stream on Netflix.
