Apple TV's The Morning Show recently premiered its Season 4 on September 17, 2025. It brought back to the screen the cutthroat lives of the TMS anchors, with Reese Witherspoon's Bradley returning to the network. The glossy and frivolous show also touched upon several important current issues, such as the #MeToo movement, school shootings, and wildfires.
Furthermore, while depicting current affairs that take place in the real world, The Morning Show also highlights the challenging lives of journalists across the world. In an interview with PEOPLE, Jennifer Aniston, who plays Alex Levy, host of TMS, shared that doing the show had made her respect the journalists more than she did before. She specifically mentioned and appreciated the work of the morning anchors. She stated:
"I have the utmost respect for journalists. I mean, I always have - but even more so now. Especially morning anchors."
The Morning Show: Jennifer Aniston talks about how the show changed her view on journalism
The Morning Show premiered on Apple TV in 2019 and quickly became the talk of the town with its intriguing Season 1 story about a s*xual misconduct scandal by a morning show anchor. The New York-based media company, UBA network, has faced many difficulties over the various seasons, leading the network to merge with another network in Season 3.
The series has seen the anchors and journalists dealing with scandals and criminal investigations, and even the loss of viewers. Aniston has been loved by viewers for playing the role of an ambitious news anchor, Levy.
In the PEOPLE interview, the Friends actress shared that she enjoys playing the character and also talked about how playing the character and being a part of The Morning Show showed her the challenging life of journalists, which we are not aware of. This resulted in her developing immense respect for journalism and the people working in the field. Through working on the Apple TV series, she learned the difficulties journalists face in their job.
To add to her previous comment, she said:
"It's a grind."
In an earlier interview with Glamour, Aniston talked about how every season of The Morning Show has left her feeling exhausted, but then she comes back with full enthusiasm to work on the next. She compared her experience with childbirth and stated:
"Every year since I finished the first season, I was like, Well, that’s it — I’m dead. That just killed me. I kind of compare it to what childbirth must be like when my friends are like, ‘You just kind of forget what it was, and then next thing you know you’re knocked up again.'"
But that's not the only comparison; she also stated in the PEOPLE interview how the Apple TV series, which deals with themes that touch on the current events of the real world, is entirely different from her other popular show, Friends. She said:
"It is layered, it's complicated, it's emotional, it hits on a lot of topics and current events, so let's just say, it's not Friends."
Besides Jennifer Aniston, The Morning Show also stars Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Jon Hamm, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, William Jackson Harper, and Boyd Holbrook, among several others.
