Euphoria will sound rather different in Season 3, with Hans Zimmer officially on board with the music team. The Oscar-winning composer will work together with Labrinth, who has been scoring the show from its start. Zimmer, behind legendary film scores such as Inception and The Lion King, expressed his enthusiasm about joining the HBO series.

"“It’s a privilege to become part of this remarkable group of storytellers led by the imaginative Sam Levinson. Together, they have created a striking and poignant series that has resonated deeply with viewers. Labrinth’s compositions have defined the show’s essence, and I am eager to help advance the narrative and influence this new season through music," Zimmer explained, as cited by Variety.

The collaboration was made public on July 23, 2025, and represents a daring departure for the sonic tone of the series. With Zimmer involved, the soundtrack of the show could venture into some new directions without losing the emotional foundation that Labrinth established.

A first for Hans Zimmer and Euphoria

This is Zimmer's initial experience with working on the HBO drama. Zimmer comes in as a co-composer for Euphoria Season 3, collaborating with Labrinth as a partner and not his replacement. This was announced through authentic channels such as Variety, asserting Zimmer's participation in taking shape for the next season's score.

Zimmer underlined that the work of the creative team had "resonated deeply" with the audience and demonstrated his admiration for Labrinth's efforts up to now. His participation comes when the show is likely to address heavier plots, and music will remain an integral part.

Who is Hans Zimmer?

Zimmer is one of the most recognized names in film music. Born in Germany, he has scored more than 150 films over four decades. His credits include Gladiator, Interstellar, Dune, and the Dark Knight trilogy. He’s won two Oscars, five Grammys, and a BAFTA, among other awards.

His distinctive style marries orchestral soundscapes with electronic textures. It's emotional, immersive, and frequently employed to support stories with intricate characters and multi-layered themes. Zimmer is also the founder of Remote Control Productions, a studio that guides and nurtures up-and-coming composers.

Labrinth, who composed the music for the first two seasons, is staying on for Euphoria Season 3. Known for his mix of gospel, electronic, and emotional tones, his work helped define the series’ unique sound.

Zimmer himself complimented Labrinth's efforts and referred to them as "the show's essence," stating that what he aimed to do was layer on top of that musical heritage and not diverge from it. The two will likely be working together, each contributing a specific style to the score.

What this means for Season 3

Zimmer's musical approach usually adds depth to plots without overfilling them. Relevant to Euphoria's themes of mental sickness, addiction, and interpersonal relationships, he has composed for films with strong emotional material, including The Thin Red Line and Dune.

Zimmer said he wants to help move the story using music, even if word has not yet come on particular musical cues or episode structures. That means the grade might actually affect how people experience action rather than merely enhance it.

Matching Zimmer's widescreen view with Labrinth's close, emotionally subtle approach might lead to a score that develops alongside the characters. Furthermore, as it starts its third season, it also reveals the show's ambition.
