Fallout Season 2 will not be a contender at this year’s Golden Globes! As per the reports from Deadline and MalaysiaNews, the studio responsible for the series, Amazon MGM Studios, has made it known that it will not be placing Season 2 of the show in the running for Golden Globes, as the full season won’t be available in time for Golden Globes voters, who would only get access to part of the episodes before ballots close, making it impossible for the studio to submit the season fairly.

Instead, the studio will conduct the show’s awards campaign next, together with the Primetime Emmys and the upcoming critics’ and guild awards cycles. Thus, it’s official; the Golden Globes are not going to be a part of the marketing campaign surrounding Fallout Season 2. This choice signifies an intentional move to give up the winter-cycle awards push, aiming to synchronize the entire season release and assessment with a later, larger awards window.

What do we know about Fallout Season 2?

Official announcements about the public release of Fallout Season 2 confirm it will debut on Prime Video on December 17, 2025. As the plan goes, each episode in the season is to be released weekly. This means that the entirety of Fallout Season 2 will not be accessible to the audience until after the premiere date and the following weeks of release.

The season is said to feature several main cast members from the first season and to explore the “New Vegas” storyline, which will allow us to draw the boundaries of the show’s universe and the narrative even more. Production information also says that the shooting occurred in 2025, with earlier hiccups (forest fires in California, among other reasons), but the announcement regarding the end of production has been made.

Most importantly, considering the awards-submission strategy for Fallout Season 2, the release schedule being at the end of the year, and the weekly unveiling is fundamental to take into consideration.

Why Fallout Season 2 is not going to the Golden Globes

The timing issue was the principal reason. Fallout Season 2 would come out at the time of the Golden Globes, and the voting and eligibility periods would overlap; as a result, only a part of the season would be made available to the voters to view before they cast their votes.

This little exposure would restrict the voters' judgment to an incomplete one, not allowing them to see the overall quality, momentum, character development, and eventual resolution of the storyline for the whole season.

In light of such limitations, it appears that the studio believes the situation of submitting only a part of the season would not be advantageous and might lead to incorrect or quick judgment. Hence, to safeguard the award evaluation process’s integrity, Amazon MGM Studios has decided to completely overlook the Golden Globes for Fallout Season 2.

The campaign plan for awards looks like this

While running a winter awards campaign is not the case for Fallout Season 2, the strategy now is to wait for the entire season to be released, and then the next suitable awards season will be focused on. Likely, the Primetime Emmys will be the first significant opportunity, when the entire season is aired, and critics, audiences, and awards voters can assess the whole season within the complete context.

Afterwards, the season may also be put forward for guild awards and critics’ or industry awards, accompanied by a campaign strategy that aligns with full release and full audience reception.

Reactions from viewers and industry observers

The audience is not influenced in any way by the decision that was taken concerning the show in this instance. The second half of the season will be broadcast as it was originally planned; the episodes will be made available to viewers one after the other without any alteration in time.

The only alteration is that the show will miss the Golden Globes window, and attention will be on the Emmys, as well as the next award cycles when the complete season will have been broadcast.

An important factor for the audience of the Golden Globes and those who keep an eye on the industry is that Fallout Season 2 gives a clear-cut case of how streaming series that are released late in the year or roll out weekly come to consider awards campaigns together with the calendar of full releases rather than of the traditional awards season.

The non-participation of Fallout Season 2 in the Golden Globes nomination list can be attributed to its chronological order of release and the manner of distribution. Only after the December 17 premiere will the entire season be accessible, and the weekly rollout will coincide with the Golden Globes eligibility and voting period. Thus, Amazon MGM Studios has made a choice to delay the show's awards campaign until a later, more suitable time, particularly the Primetime Emmys.

For Season 2, this means the first real awards opportunity opens only after the entire season is made available, a strategically planned move that prioritizes evaluation fairness over the immediacy of award visibility.
