FBI Season 8, CBS' long-running Dick Wolf police procedural, finally returned on the network after a five-month hiatus. The wait was especially long because the FBI Season 7 finale left things on a cliffhanger and SAC Isobel Castille's fate in the balance, who was critically injured after the previous season's explosion. FBI Season 8 Episode 2 will air on CBS on October 20.

The premiere kicked off three days after the Season 7 finale. While Isobel was still in a critical condition and was wheeled in for an eight-hour-long surgery, she pulled through. Episode 1 revealed that Isobel is finally out of danger but the premiere featured another shocking death.

The eighth season of FBI features the return of the main ensemble cast, which includes Missy Peregrym as Maggie, Zeeko Zaki as OA, Jeremy Sisto as Jubal, Alana de la Garza as Isobel and John Boyd as Scola. Additionally, the latest season has added Juliana Aidén Martinez in an unmaed part and Emily Alabi's Dani Rhodes has bid farewell to the team.

FBI Season 8 Episode 2: Release and streaming details

FBI Season 8 Episode 2, titled 'Captured,' will air on CBS on Monday, October 20, at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT. A day later, the episode will also be available to stream on Paramount+, CBS's official streaming partner.

Following the recent cancellation of FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International, CBS has made changes in the release schedule for Season 8 of FBI. Unlike previous seasons of the police procedural, which released weekly episodes on CBS every Tuesday, FBI Season 8 will release weekly episodes every Monday at 9 p.m.

This strategic change is likely to push the procedural more, following the cancellation of its two spin-offs.

For fans who wish to stream new episodes, they can do so on Hulu+ Live TV and FuboTV. Additionally, Paramount+ and Sky will likely stream new FBI episodes in the UK, but international fans can expect a slight delay in availability.

The official synopsis for Captured reads as follows:

When paintings from a high-profile international cultural exchange are stolen – leaving a security guard dead – the team races to recover the priceless artworks. Meanwhile, Maggie turns to a friend for help profiling suspects.

It looks like FBI Season 8 is increasing the stakes of the police procedural and featuring high-stakes and intense cases in the new season. With Rhodes' death, the Season 8 premiere started strong and the exciting title of the upcoming episode suggests that the show will not spare even their own.

With the cast shake-ups this season, character dynamics are bound to shift and all eyes will be on Scola, who underwent a huge tragedy in the latest episode. The show has not given the special agent a stable partner for a while now. Things were starting to look up with Dani Rhodes, but she was tragically killed off in the Season 8 premiere.

What happened in the FBI Season 8 premiere?

FBI Season 8 premiere was a brutal outing for the team, which concluded with Rhodes' death after she bravely took a bullet meant for her partner, Scola. The team was assigned to a missing judge's case, which took them to the secluded island town of Port Turner.

After Maggie and OA were taken hostage by the town's mayor, Scola and Rhodes arrived to rescue them. Amidst the shootout, Rhodes took a bullet for Scola and the team assumed that it had hit her vest. It was only after Rhodes took down the suspect in the FBI that she revealed that the bullet had hit her abdomen and she died on the scene after succumbing to her injuries.

It remains to be seen what effect Rhodes' death will have on Scola and the team and what dangerous cases await the FBI in Season 8.

Tune in to Episode 2 on CBS on October 20, 2025.
