FBI spin-off CIA is again facing another hurdle as a major cast member is revealed to have exited the procedural spin-off series. Deadline has reported that actress Michael Michele has departed the series, which is in production right now.Michele was tapped to play the New York Station head of the CIA. This is the second significant change the spin-off series has gone through in the year after a showrunner change earlier. The reason behind Michele's exit from the upcoming show has not been revealed yet, and Deadline also reported that a recast for her role might happen. However, due to a showrunner change, the premiere of the series was shifted to midseason. In July 2025, Deadline reported that David Hudgins, who was the showrunner and also was supposed to write the pilot for the spin-off series with Dick Wolf, exited the series; instead, Warren Leight, who is also known for leading several seasons of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, joined as the new showrunner.The filming began in September 2025. Amid the ongoing production, it is revealed that Michael Michele, who was one of the main cast members of the procedural series, has also exited. The reason behind Michele's departure has not been revealed yet.Apart from Michele, the FBI spin-off series also stars Tom Ellis and Nick Gehlfuss as the main cast of the series. Ellis will play an unconventional CIA case officer who does not shy away from breaking rules to complete his task, while Gehlfuss will play an FBI agent who is the polar opposite of Ellis's character and mostly wants to do his job by following proper order. As they are paired together, they will learn that their contrasting personalities might also help them do their jobs, and we will see an unlikely friendship growing between the two.The spin-off series also includes Natalee Linez, who will play a CIA analyst in the show. Showrunner Leight and Dick Wolf are also the executive producers of the upcoming series with David Chasteen, Peter Jankowski, and Nicole Perlman.Deadline also reported that Michele's role might be recast for the spin-off series, but no confirmation about the news has been provided yet. This was not the first Dick Wolf show that Michele was involved in, as the actress has also appeared in Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes and was also part of the 1994 series New York Undercover.
