HBO’s Harry Potter TV reboot is in full swing, and some of the photos have provided the first look at the Dursleys.
Some photos that have surfaced online offer the first glimpse of the Dursleys from the upcoming Harry Potter television series. Dominic McLaughlin portrays Harry, while Bel Powley, Daniel Rigby, and Amos Kitson play the Dursley family. The sequences were shot at London Zoo and depict significant moments from the original tale.
According to HBO, the series will be a more accurate and in-depth adaptation than the original movies. Arabella Stanton plays Hermione Granger, while Alastair Stout plays Ron Weasley in the youthful ensemble.
At Leavesden Studios, a makeshift on-set classroom is being constructed to assist the young actors, and the cast will be able to continue their education while filming thanks to this facility. The Harry Potter series is expected to debut in 2027.
Harry Potter: A brief overview
J.K. Rowling, a British author, wrote the Harry Potter series of seven fantasy books. It follows the adventures of a young wizard named Harry Potter and his pals Ron and Hermione at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The major plot centers around Harry’s war against the wicked wizard Voldemort, who seeks to control the magical world.
The books, which were first released in 1997, quickly gained popularity around the world. They have sold over 600 million copies and were adapted into eight successful films.
First look of Dursley’s from the Harry Potter TV series
As filming kicks off for HBO’s Harry Potter television series, newly released set photos spotlight a key early moment in the story involving the Dursleys. Shot at the London Zoo, the scene captures a young Harry (played by Dominic McLaughlin) sporting his signature round glasses and blue sweatshirt. The images hint at the beginning of Harry’s magical journey, specifically the moment when he unintentionally causes the glass to vanish while speaking to a snake.
The Dursley family is seen filming a significant sequence at the London Zoo in the first glimpse of the upcoming Harry Potter television series. In this scene from the first book, Harry uses magic to make the glass disappear while conversing with a snake.
Amos Kitson, Daniel Rigby, and Bel Powley return in these scenes alongside Dominic McLaughlin, and they closely resemble the characters as described in J.K. Rowling’s books. In addition to using the same setting as the first movie, the scene appears to stay true to the novel.
The Dursleys are Harry Potter’s only living non-magical relatives. Vernon is married to Petunia, Harry’s aunt and the sister of his mother, Lily. They live at 4 Privet Drive with their son, Dudley.
The family takes pride in their “normal” existence and strongly opposes anything out of the ordinary. After his parents were murdered, Harry was sent to live with the Dursleys for protection, due to his blood connection to Petunia. Despite their mistreatment of him and efforts to conceal his true origins, Dudley eventually reconciles with Harry after a life-changing experience.
Excitement for this new chapter in the Wizarding World is building as filming gets underway.
