How To Get to Heaven From Belfast from Derry Girls creator
Lisa McGee is most popularly known for Derry Girls, which was set at the end of the Troubles in Derry, and followed five teenagers as they dealt with their daily lives and the political unrest they lived in. The show is widely popular for its witty humor and quirky characters. Now, Lisa McGee and Hat Trick Productions, the production company that was behind Derry Girls, are bringing us a new show, How To Get to Heaven From Belfast. Netflix has released the first look pictures teasing us about the upcoming show.
The pictures released show us the three friends, Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara, and hint at what the show will entail. One picture features a burning house, one features a woman holding a gun, while another shows us someone seemingly alive lying in a coffin. From what we can tell, the upcoming thriller-comedy is going to be one chaotic ride, which will only get crazier with each episode.
The show's logline, according to Tudum by Netflix reads,
Clever, chaotic TV writer Saoirse; glamorous, stressed-out mother of three Robyn; and dependable, inhibited carer Dara have been a tight-knit group since school. Now in their late 30s, but still as close as ever, these three friends are about to embark on the most thrilling adventure of their lives. When an email arrives, telling them about the death of the estranged fourth member of their childhood gang, a series of eerie events at her wake sets them on a dark, dangerous, and hilarious odyssey through Ireland and beyond as each tries to piece together the truth about the past.
How To Get to Heaven From Belfast stars Roísín Gallagher as Saoirse, Sinéad Keenan as Robyn, Caoilfhionn Dunne as Dara, Tom Basden as Seb, Art Campion as Jim, Michelle Fairley as Margo, Josh Finan as Jason, Bronagh Gallagher as Booker, Darragh Hand as Liam, Ardal O’Hanlon as Seamus, Natasha as Greta, and Emmett J. Scanlan as Owen. Executive producers on the show are Lisa McGee, Caroline Leddy, Liz Lewin, Jimmy Mulville, and Michael Lennox.

Speaking about the show with Tudum by Netflix, Lisa McGee said,
“We got the gang back together — the creative team behind Derry Girls has reunited to bring you How to Get to Heaven from Belfast,”
Director Michael Lennox and producer Brian J. Falconer, who also directed and produced Derry Girls, respectively, also returned to direct and produce How To Get to Heaven From Belfast. McGee continued,
“This is the show I’ve always wanted to make; a mash‑up of my two favorite genres, mystery and comedy. We want to keep you guessing and keep you laughing. I can’t wait for you to meet Saoirse, Robyn and Dara, and go on this wild, weird adventure with them — an Irish odyssey — full of twists, turns, and arguments about eyelash extensions.”
How To Get to Heaven From Belfast will be released on Netflix in February 2026.
