The official first poster for Fallout Season 2 is out, giving fans a sneak peek at what is to come for the new season of the series. IGN reports that the poster signals the show's new direction, setting its main location as New Vegas.

It shows beloved characters Lucy MacLean, The Ghoul, Maximus, and Dogmeat gearing up to enter the city's periphery. Fallout Season 2 will be released on Prime Video in December 2025, with new environments and plotlines beyond its initial season.

What does the poster from Fallout Season 2 tease?

The just-revealed poster showcases the transition to New Vegas in Fallout Season 2. According to IGN, the picture shows Lucy MacLean, The Ghoul, Maximus, and Dogmeat standing on the outskirts of the city, a strong indicator that most of the upcoming season will see action set in this classic location from the Fallout games.

As revealed by Gamerant, a teaser image released at Amazon's Upfront event some months ago also teased New Vegas as a focal point, with Lucy and The Ghoul approaching the city's skyline. These are visual clues indicating a drastic change both in terms of setting and narrative emphasis.

Audiences can also see set pieces such as the Lucky 38 Resort and Casino, The Tops, and the landmark Dinky the T. rex, affirming the show's commitment to detail in recreating the video game world.

Returning cast and characters

IGN reports that the main Season 1 characters will be returning: Lucy MacLean, The Ghoul, Maximus, and Dogmeat. The series features Ella Purnell as Lucy, Walton Goggins as The Ghoul, Aaron Moten as Maximus, and other regular roles. There has been no announcement regarding new team members or cast members added to the show thus far.

Story setting and timeline

Season 2 will be set in New Vegas and, as per showrunners Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, will be 15 years after the events of Fallout: New Vegas, a fan favorite in the video game franchise.

The co-showrunners explained that audiences shouldn't presume that the show will do any particular game ending, as the timeline of the show takes place after the events of the games and is established as canon in the Fallout universe. Doing so liberates the producers and writers to create original stories, not constrained by the choice-driven branches of the video games.

References to iconic locations

The recent set photos and the poster imply that fan-favorite locations like the New Vegas Strip, Lucky 38 Resort and Casino, and Dinky the T. rex will be featured.

Fans are also looking forward to the inclusion of aspects like the Super Mutants of Jacobstown and other prominent hotel plots, which were crucial to the Fallout: New Vegas game, Gamerant adds. These references indicate that the series will continue to evolve its video game foundations while diverging with fresh storylines.

Release and production update of Season 2

Season 2 is scheduled for release in December 2025 exclusively on Prime Video, as confirmed by multiple sources. The signal for this premiere came soon after production wrapped and aligns with Amazon’s ongoing efforts to capitalize on the franchise's popularity following the success of Season 1.

The showrunners have not shared plot specifics beyond the central New Vegas setting but have confirmed the timeline and returning cast.

The initial glimpse into Season 2 via its poster affirms a shift to New Vegas and the reappearance of core characters. Fans can anticipate new worlds, richer storylines, and details typical of fans of the Fallout franchise.
