Abbott Elementary, which was first released on ABC in 2021, is returning for its fifth season on October 1, 2025. The first teaser of the upcoming season shows us the team of teachers and Principal Coleman in trouble, as they get attacked with apples.

The teaser doesn't say much about the upcoming season of Abbott Elementary, but it confirms that the main cast of the show is returning for season five. Besides, the fact that the first teaser, along with all the promotional clips posted by the show's Instagram account, hints at apples playing a significant role in season five.

First teaser of Abbott Elementary season 5

The first teaser of Abbott Elementary season 5 begins with the Tiniest Kid of the school, played by Dillion B. Allen, saying,

"They say an apple is a way of showing your teacher you appreciate them. But I say, ''How about Deeeeez apples?''"

She then aims to throw apples at the school's teachers, Janine Teagues, Gregory Eddie, Melissa Schemmenti, Jacob Hill, Barbara Howard, and Principal Ava Coleman. None of the faculty initially suspects anything is amiss until the adorable student starts throwing the apples at them. Jacob and Janine are dreading the apple that is about to hit him. Barbara prays that an apple doesn't hit her, Ava and Gregory dodge the ones thrown at them, and Melissa smashes the one aimed at her with her baseball bat.

When Tiniest Kid sees Melissa just smashing the apple and frowns, Mr. Johnson comes to help with a trash bin full of apples. They both then proceed to throw apples at the teachers until Ava puts her foot down and yells,

''Oh, hell no. Come back here.''

Tiniest Kid runs away, with Ava running after her. The teaser ends with Mr. Johnson cleaning up the smashed pieces of apples from the school hallway. The teaser also states that season five will premiere on October 1, 2025.

Season four ended with the students, their parents, and teachers of Willard R. Abbott Elementary School reinstating Ava as the Principal. The very last episode, titled Please Touch Museum, did not end on a cliffhanger, but was a heartwarming episode. We saw the teachers taking the eighth graders on a field trip to the Please Touch Museum, and the students writing and performing a play about the teachers.

No storyline for season five has been revealed yet. The only thing we know, as reported by Variety, is that one episode of season five will feature the Philadelphia Phillies as the teachers go on a field trip to watch them. The Philadelphia Phillies played against the Atlanta Braves recently, and Abbott Elementary posted a picture on Instagram of them filming at the location of the game, Citizens Bank Park.

A comment on the same post by the show also confirmed that we will be seeing a crossover between the show and the Philadelphia Phillies. The comment stated,

Phanatic, you are a STAR. 🌟 We can't wait to see you on Abbott Elementary

The cast returning for season five includes Quinta Brunson as Janine Teagues, Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard, William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson, and Matthew Law as O'Shon.

Season five of Abbott Elementary will be released on ABC on October 1, 2025. The first four seasons of Abbott Elementary are streaming on Hulu.
