Wonder Man is the latest Marvel meta live-action Disney+ series. The teaser starts off with the one thing that everyone must be feeling at this point. The superhero fatigue. The narrative of the teaser finds an internationally celebrated and reclusive filmmaker, Von Kovak, coming out of his retirement for his first franchise film. Head of Marvel Television, Brad Winderbaum, explains:

"It's very different than anything the studio's produced. In terms of how meta it is, without getting into details, it is a show that takes place within the MCU, but it's a story about Hollywood."

He goes on to add:

"And it's a story about not just Hollywood, I would say it's a story about acting and the journey of an actor in Hollywood, of having to balance being an artist with making money and very grounded ideas that anyone who came up in Hollywood or in the arts in general can relate to."

The franchise film that has Kovak come out of retirement is none other than a remake of Wonder Man. The meta-narrative of the upcoming series is established with the interview that somebody, later revealed to be generations of viewers, including Abdul Mateen as Simon Williams, watches on their device.

Kovak then addresses the superhero fatigue that everyone must be feeling at this point:

"Everyone is tired of superheroes. Why go see them in the cinemas? Wonder Man spoke to me on a deep level. There is an opportunity to shock audiences! To reimagine a whole genre of storytelling!"

The interviewer then goes on to ask Kovak if they have given any thought to the casting and if there are any updates on that front, just as the camera cuts to Simon watching the interview.

According to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel, Wonder Man is set to be a meta-narrative that revolves around Hollywood and the journey of an actor in Hollywood. The actor in question is Abdul-Mateen as Simon Williams. Simon is a working actor who will be auditioning for the lead role in the legendary filmmaker's first franchise film.

The narrative is set to move between Abdul-Mateen's Simon and Ben Kingsley's Trevor Slattery. The two of them, despite being wildly different, are bound by their shared passion for acting. At its core, Wonder Man is an ode to the craft of acting in its sincerity and its focus.

"This is really a very intimate portrait of one actor trying to live his dreams while the world and the need to make money intervenes."

If the meta-narrative format reminds you of the 2021 WandaVision, it should, because Wonder Man is taking a special nod from WandaVision and how much the audience loved its narrative.

We'll have to wait until the Wonder Man release, which has been shifted to January from December, to find out if it can encapsulate the WandaVision magic in this completely different narrative (meta).
