Charlotte's Web is set to return for a three-part animated retelling featuring Amy Adams as Charlotte
The timeless story of friendship is coming back to life with an animated retelling of Charlotte's Web. The three-part special is set to premiere on HBO Max on October 2, with Amy Adams as the voice for the titular spider, Charlotte. Additionally, Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings) is set to take over the voice of the adult spring pig, Wilbur. Young Wilbur will be voiced by Griffin Robert Faulkner.
While the children's classic retelling will be narrated by Jean Smart, Natalie Chan is taking up the role of the little girl, Fern. The heartwarming story of love, friendship, and kindness is incomplete without all the animals that Wilbur finds company in, from the Goose (Cynthia Erivo) and the Gander (Danny Trejo) to Templeton the Rat (Randall Park).
Fans of the classic have found this story an essential tale of friendship, love, empathy, and courage. The trailer for the retelling gives us a look at one of the most heartwarming scenes of the classic. It is the night before the fair, and Charlotte and Wilbur are trying to come up with a word that she can weave into her web for Wilbur. Templeton the rat decides that he has more important things to do than get words for them.

As the two try to come up with a word to describe Wilbur, Charlotte finally tells him why she weaves the words to save him:
"Wilbur, I weave my webs for you because I like you. Because we're friends. After all, what's a life anyway? We're born, we live a little, we die. A spider's life can't help being something of a mess with all the trapping and eating flies. By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift my own life up a trifle. Heaven knows anyone's life can stand a little of that."
The heartwarming declaration in Charlotte's Web leads to Wilbur giving Charlotte the biggest compliment when he says:
"I-- I am no good at making speeches. I haven't your gift for words. But, well... You're a true friend, Charlotte. And I would give my life for you. I really would."
The heart of Charlotte's Web lies in the friendship that the animals share, and this heartwarming conversation allows Charlotte to come up with the one word that will help save Wilbur's life and aptly describes him.
What that word is, you'll have to watch to find out!
