Glen Powell pulls an undercover transformation in the latest trailer for the upcoming Hulu original comedy show Chad Powers. Powell takes up an alternate persona in order to reinvent himself as an ugly quarterback from South Georgia instead of the a-hole South Carolina player, Russ Holliday, who makes a career-ending mistake while showing off during a game.

The official logline for the comedy series reads:

After a career-ending game, Russ Holliday has to throw a Hail Mary and reinvent himself as South Georgia’s new QB, Chad Powers.

Hulu recently dropped the official trailer for the comedy series. Glen Powell puts on some prosthetic skin to put on his face and transform himself into an "ugly" quarterback and pull a Mrs. Doubtfire.

Glen Powell plays Russ Holliday, a former hotshot NFL quarterback who tanked an extremely important championship game with the worst mistake one could possibly make, effectively ending his football career. Well, if the quarterback makes his vanity-driven way into the end zone but ends up dropping the ball just before crossing the line, leading the opposite team to pick up the ball and win the championship, it's bound to have some effect on said quarterback's career.

The trailer opens with Russ Holliday's father explaining this exact reality to his son and telling him that he has to accept and move on from the end of his football career. It's been eight years, and there's no way he would ever be allowed to return to the game after his career-defining fall.

However, Russ Holliday has something else on his mind and realizes he's not done with football yet. He is aware, though, that he cannot make his way back into the game with the mistake following him around, so he decides to pull a Mrs. Doubtfire on football and change his appearance with the help of heavy makeup and prosthetics.

He gives his undercover persona a new name, Chad Powers, and tries out for the South Georgia team. However "ugly" he looks, Chad Powers has the skill and talent of Russ Holliday as he becomes a part of the team and slowly but surely ends up on a journey of self-reflection, discovering something new in himself.

It helps that on the way, he finds people willing to give him a second chance despite the acts he's committed in the past and the deceptive ones he continues to commit in the present.

Apart from the crazy storyline, the official trailer also revealed that Chad Powers is all set to premiere on Hulu on September 30 with two episodes. These two episodes will be followed by four more episodes released on a weekly basis on Tuesdays, setting the season finale up for October 28, 2025.

Along with Glen Powell as Russ Holliday and later Chad Powers, the cast list also includes Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny, Wynn Everett as Tricia Yeager, and Steve Zahn as Coach Jake Hudson.

The show has been produced by Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, whose 2022 sketch of trying out for Penn State under a disguise with camera crews following him is the origin behind the central lie of the series. Powell, who is also involved as a creator and executive producer under Barnstorm Productions, said:

What made Eli’s thing so magical is the viewer knew Eli Manning was under [the disguise]. So, let’s use the lie at the center of this thing, which creates inherent fun conflict over the course of the series. We were like, ‘OK, we’re going to Tootsie this thing. Let’s Mrs. Doubtfire it, and let’s see how far we can take this lie.’

Michael Waldron also joins as a co-creator for Chad Powers, along with Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, Burke Magnus, Kati Fernandez, and Brian Lockhart as executive producers.
