The South Carolina legal dynasty is at the front and center of Hulu's Murdaugh: Death in the Family, which will be the latest limited series to take inspiration from a real-life story.

The cast includes Patricia Arquette and Jason Clarke as Maggie and Alex Murdaugh, who faced a horrifying tragedy in the recent past, which turned increasingly darker along the way. Through the new trailer, we see parts of the case that consumed the family's lives, leading them on a severe criminal investigation that tested everyone's patience.

The clip reveals a few details about this case over the span of three minutes, helping us understand how these characters will end up in legal conflicts. It shows the foundation of the show's arc, which hinges on a horrifying tragedy involving the son of the couple. That puts them in a legal spiral, which includes a police investigation.

Brittany Snow also appears as Mandy Matney, the podcaster and journalist who decides to follow the case, hoping to track answers to the cause of the Murdaugh murders. The trailer also offers a hint at Maggie's growing anxieties about her family, especially the family patriarch, who has been central to their otherwise pleasant dynamic.

Johnny Berchtold joins the cast as Paul Murdaugh, while the Succession star J. Smith-Cameron plays Marian Proctor. Paul appears alongside Alex in the trailer, where we get to see a few bits from his past.

The cast of Murdaugh: Death in the Family includes a big ensemble. In this show, Will Harrison stars as Buster Murdaugh, Gerald McRaney as Randolph Murdaugh, Jim O'Heir as Dick Harpootlian, Kathleen Wilhoite as Gloria Satterfield, Madeline Popovich as Mallory Beach, and Noah Emmerich as Randy Murdaugh.

Variety reports that Erin Lee Carr and Michael D. Fuller are the executive producers on this project, along with Alex Hedlund and Nick Antosca for Eat the Cat. David Moses, Bill Johnson, and Mandy Matney will also executive produce, besides Steven Piat.

Murdaugh: Death in the Family is all set to premiere on October 15 on Hulu and Disney+.
