CBS has released the first official trailer for Tracker season 3, and it wastes no time showing fans what’s in store. The footage features Colter Shaw, played by Justin Hartley, back in action, body-slamming an opponent, pursuing leads, and even riding a horse for a case.

The preview also highlights a key family reunion as Jensen Ackles returns as Colter’s brother, Russell. The two are shown fighting in a bar before settling their dispute with a game of rock, paper, scissors—a detail that longtime Supernatural fans will instantly recognize.

The season kicks off with Colter confronting the truth about his father’s death, which connects directly to Russell’s storyline. Together, the brothers work to find the missing wife and daughter of one of Reenie’s clients, only to find themselves entangled in a dangerous network called The Process.

Fiona Rene returns as Reenie, now the only main character remaining after Eric Graise (Bobby) and Abby McEnany (Velma) left following season 2. The show, based on Jeffery Deaver’s novel The Never Game, keeps its case-of-the-week format while advancing Colter’s family story. Tracker season 3 premieres Sunday, October 19, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, with episodes available to stream the next day on Paramount+.

Tracker Season 3 places Colter Shaw directly in the middle of the family turmoil that has been building since the first season. The trailer clearly shows that the storyline about his father’s death isn’t just a minor detail but the main focus of the opening episodes.

In the Season 2 finale, Colter learned that Otto, a man linked to his family, confessed to pushing his father off a cliff. What shocked Colter even more was Otto’s claim that his mother, Mary Dove Shaw, had asked for his help. Season 3 will follow Colter as he begins to confront this revelation and demand answers from his mother, who has kept the truth hidden for years.

Simultaneously, Russell’s return is directly connected to this storyline. He and Colter are depicted collaborating on a new case involving the disappearance of a wife and daughter linked to Reenie’s client. Their investigation leads them into the path of a shadowy group called The Process.

The preview suggests that this organization is more than just a single case; it’s part of a larger chain of crimes. Russell’s presence raises the stakes because his unresolved history with their father’s death contrasts sharply with Colter’s approach.

The Tracker season 3 trailer also shows how the supporting cast is being reshaped. Fiona Rene returns as Reenie, continuing to offer legal guidance and a steadying presence that Colter relies on. She is now the only series regular besides Hartley after Eric Graise and Abby McEnany left the show following season 2.

Their departures mean the dynamic around Colter is shifting, with Reenie’s role set to grow as she questions her own path and future. Executive producer Elwood Reid has said that these exits allow the show to introduce new guest characters and avoid relying too heavily on a set formula.

While the family storyline drives the long-term arc, the season will still feature weekly cases in different settings, a format that helped the show stand out on CBS. Reid confirmed that Colter will keep traveling across the country, encountering strange local characters and unexpected obstacles along the way.

At the same time, the creative team is planting small links between cases, including an Easter egg from season 2 that will resurface this year and connect back to Colter’s father. This approach gives season 3 a wider scope, blending the familiar case-of-the-week format with deeper personal stakes.
