When Le-Le first came to know of her father being diagnosed with dementia, she realized that her customary visits to see him twice or thrice a month would not suffice anymore. Initially she did not believe the diagnosis completely, but it gradually became clear to her that the doctors were right when they said that Cheng Kuang-Chi needed great care as his dementia, which was at a primary stage, could gradually worsen with time.

As Le-Le took the responsibility of caring for her father, she came to know of many thighs that she was not previously aware of — like her father had been in touch with her mother all these years.

Hsiao-Fang, Le-Le’s mother, had left her and her father when Le-Le was young. Naturally, she never received mother’s love while growing up and it was up to her father to make up for both parents. While he did his best, that was not enough for Le-Le and after growing up she gradually drifted apart from her father till the diagnosis of his dementia.

Knowing how her father had tried his best to give her a good childhood, Le-Le feels bad, thinking that perhaps she had not been fair to her dad. This leads to Le-Le doing all that she can to take care of her father. However, as she lost her job, things got difficult to manage in terms of money.

Eventually, Le-Le makes a career out of being a standup comedian and while she does take good care of her father, the old man passes away at the end of Forget You Not. Cheng Kuang-Chi’s death is not exactly shocking because he was old and suffering from dementia, but it does leave an emotional impact because of the journey he took with his daughter in the final days of his life.
