Apple TV+'s intergalactic battle has finally returned with Foundation Season 3, the science fiction television series created by David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman, which debuted in 2021.
Season 3 kicked off with a 152-year in-universe time jump since the Second Crisis that has reshaped the face of the galaxy, with both the Foundation and the Empire eyeing the control of major planets.
However, all their efforts stand in vain as new threats loom large, along with the return of mutant lord Mule, who threatens to take control over the galaxy by eliminating everyone who comes in his way.
Foundation Season 3 Episode 2 will premiere on Apple TV+ on July 18, 2025, and will continue expanding on the galaxy-spinning tale, which just found its new ruler in Mule.

Foundation Season 3 Episode 2: Release and streaming details
Foundation Season 3 Episode 2, titled Shadows in the Math will be released on Apple TV+ on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 12:01 am ET. Season 3 will comprise a total of 10 episodes, which will be released weekly and available on Apple TV+ every Friday.
Since Foundation is an Apple TV+ series, it is exclusively available on the platform. Viewers will need an active subscription to watch the latest season and weekly episodes.

The inception of Mule's rule in the Foundation Season 3 premiere
The Foundation Season 3 premiere began with a 152-year time jump since the Second Crisis. During this period, while the Foundation prospered, the Empire lost the majority of its control.
In episode 1, it was revealed that both Foundation and Empire were eying the control of Kalgan, an important planet in the galaxy. However, before they could strategize to gain control of Kalgan, Mule kidnapped Archduke Bellarion's daughter and threatened him to give up his control of Kalgan.
Mule unleashed his mentalic powers, killing the Archduke in the process, and took control of his signet ring, thus becoming the ruler of Kalgan. With the Foundation and the Empire losing their grip on the galaxy, Mule's rule seems inevitable.
Foundation Season 3 Episode 1 ends with Demerzel and Day learning that the Third Crisis is nearing and will affect every species, including the Cleons. The Seldon’s model has already started glitching, and it is hinted that Mule's rule over the galaxy will have catastrophic effects and will even affect the predictions of psychohistory itself.
