Fans of mystery dramas have great news as Wine & Spirits, based on Jennifer Shaffer, a Manhattan Beach-based psychic medium, is under development by Fox. Jessica Alba’s production house, Lady Metalmark Entertainment, is behind the project, which is written by Acapulco fame Rob Sudduth.

Jennifer Shaffer, on whom the show is going to be based, is quite an interesting person as she not only deals with her own private clients but also helps the LAPD and FBI in solving various mysteries.

Talking about Shaffer, Alba said,

“From the moment I met Jen Shaffer, I knew she was extraordinary. Not just for her gift of connecting with the other side, but for her wit, sparkle, and unforgettable style. Over the years, we’ve shared laughter, tears, and even meditation retreats (which I may have dragged her to), and she’s helped awaken parts of my own intuition I never knew existed.”

She also added,

“Building a show around someone as dynamic as Jen has been a true joy, and I’m excited to see these stories come to life under Rob’s visionary direction.”

Wine & Spirits’ central plotline revolves around Shaffer’s character, who leads two lives: one as a mother and the other as a woman with psychic abilities who helps the FBI.

Shaffer serves as a producer for Wine & Spirits

Shaffer is quite a sought-after medium in LA, and since Wine & Spirits is essentially based on her, she serves as a producer as well. According to her,

“This show is not just about solving mysteries, it’s about connection, healing, and reminding people they’re not alone.”

Besides writing the show, Rob Sudduth also dons the hat of a producer along with Michael Rotenberg and Oly Obst from Tracey Nyberg and 3 Arts and Lady Metalmark.

Talking about his fascination with ghosts and similar entities, Sudduth said,

“I grew up listening to my tias tell ghost stories, so diving into a world of spirits feels right. Jen Shaffer is a force, whose candid relationship with the afterlife and deeply moving personal stories serve as an inspiration for our unique show.”

From the basic premise of the show, it is quite clear that it is going to be an interesting watch. Whether one believes in supernatural entities and mediums or not, it is always fun to watch mysteries being solved with the help of some force that cannot exactly be defined in words.

As the project is still in its early developmental stages, there is no information about the tentative release date of Wine & Spirits.
