Freakier Friday, the sequel to the 2003 film Freaky Friday, was released in theatres on August 8, 2025. The film follows Tess and Anna Coleman from the 2003 film, twenty-two years later. The first film followed the mother-daughter duo as they swapped bodies by mistake. The sequel follows not only the mother-daughter duo, but also Anna's daughter, Harper and soon-to-be stepdaughter, Lily, as they all swap bodies.

If you thought Freaky Friday was confusing, Freakier Friday takes the confusion a notch higher because this time, four characters have swapped bodies. The film was released in the theatres on August 8, 2025, but if you didn't get the chance to watch it in theatres, you can now watch it on Disney+ after it becomes available for streaming on the platform from November 12, 2025.

Freakier Friday will stream on Disney+ from November 12

Freakier Friday is based on Mary Rodgers's 1972 novel, Freaky Friday. Written by Jordan Weiss, the film is set twenty-two years after the 2003 film. Now, we see Anna raising her daughter Harper as a single parent, with the help of her mother Tess and brother. Anna is now a successful music producer, and is engaged to Eric, who has a daughter, Lily. While the parents love each other, Harper and Lily cannot stand one another and doesn't want their parents to get married.

Just like in the original film, a body-swapping incident takes place. This time, it is at Anna's bachelorette party and that swaps Anna with Harper, and Tess with Lily. The rest of the film tells us how the women and girls navigate each other’s lives and handle issues and misunderstandings. If you wanted to watch the film in theatres, but couldn't do so, you can now stream it on Disney+ from November 12, 2023.

You will be able to watch the film on the platform if you have a Disney+ subscription. If you don't, you can choose between the $11.99 per month plan which comes with ads, or the premium no-ads plan for $18.99 per month or the $189.99 per year. The film did well at the box office, earning a revenue of approximately $153 million after having a budget of $45 million. Hopefully, it will do well on Disney+ as well, given the nostalgia around the franchise.

Freakier Friday stars Jamie Lee Curtis as Tess Coleman, Lindsay Lohan as Anna Coleman, Julia Butters as Harper Coleman, Sophia Hammons as Lily Reyes, Mark Harmon as Ryan Volvo, Manny Jacinto as Eric Reyes, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Ella, Christina Vidal Mitchell as Maddie, Haley Hudson as Peg, Chad Michael Murray as Jake Austin, X Mayo as Principal Waldman, Lucille Soong as Grandma Chiang, Rosalind Chao as Mama P, and Vanessa Bayer as Madame Jen, among others.

Freakier Friday has been directed by Nisha Ganatra. Kristin Burr, Andrew Gunn, and Jamie Lee Curtis have produced the film. The production companies behind the film were Walt Disney Pictures, Gunn Films, and Burr! Productions.

Freakier Friday will be available to stream on Disney+ from November 12, 2025.
